  5. Why choose ? You can have a Morewood and a 29er in a Kwela 29er Have you looked at the TOMAC range as an option too ?

  11. 2012 29er options are going to be very competative...and its no longer good enough to just look at a frame. Personally I think the Momsen AL529 is going to be the bike to beat. ZTR Crest wheelset ? Check RS REBA ? Check XT/SLX mix 2 x 10 ? Check Price ? Double check! Add those specs to any other 29er frame and see if you come close to the price point of R13500.00
  12. Where can I find a local supplier of single speed conversion kits ? I need the whole kit..noy just spacers, tensioner etc Tried Planet X already....and dont want the hassels of importing from CRC
  13. Did you buy the fork and fit it yourself ? if so, it should have a booklet which describes how to set it. If not (and you got it from a bike shop), then the shop should have set it up for you as part of thier customer service. Regardsless... You are right in your reasoning that the valve on the top of the left leg is to increase/decrease the air pressure. The correct pressure is determined by you weight. The booklet (or a table on the back of the fork leg) should give you a guideline as to what your air pressure should be, according to your weight. This is a guideline though..its not a definite. The air pressure is changed using a shock pump..you simpley remove the valve cap on the fork, screw on the pump valve and then the pressure guage on the shock pump should give you a reading of what the current pressure is. Pump the fork then harder (or release pressure to make it softer) as per the guideline. PS : If you ordered a new fork through a LBS, make sure you get the shock pump aswell..its included in the box! The rebound setting (you have found it..its the red knob on the bottom of the right hand leg of the fork) sets how fast (or slow) the fork compresses/recovers from its movement. Turning the dial towards the Hare makes the rebound faster...turning it towards the Tortoise makes it slower. The correct speed is determined by the type of riding you are doing, as well as personal preferance. The only way to get this right is to ride and adjust as you go along. As for the fork not moving when its locked out..thats the whole point. The lockout is there to stop the fork compressing/releasing at all. This is normally used when riding flat terrain, so that you avoid the "bob" and can tranfer all your pedal power into turning the pedals instead of bouncing like a bunny on crack. Are you sure its compressed though ? The fork should be locked out in the uncompressed state...
  14. Momsen AL329 @ R9995.00 Momsen AL529 @ R13500.00 The extra R3500.00 is well worth it !
  15. "Momsen Bikes we are working on a Reynolds Steel 29er -- complete with sliding dropouts - dubbed ST-R29 for now ... hoping to see first frame samples soon. Question: do we do as FRAME-KIT or COMPLETE BIKE?" https://www.facebook.com/momsenbikes Uber cool !
  16. "The purpose of the bike I am currently looking for is for riding off-road, cross-country and maybe a bit downhill as well as the occasionally on-road." You going to battle to find a bike that suits all of this.
  17. Momsen J100... http://www.momsenbikes.com/bikes.cfm?prod=jr100
  18. Easy to ID that fork..its a RockShox RECON Silver TK...29er fork. Would say its more and intermediate fork than a entry leval. Agree that the oil deposits look a little to much though. Best you return to the bike shop you got it from and ask them to check it out. If its busted, you should get a warrenty replacement.
  19. Agreed ! The SL729 is shweeet!
  20. The Morewood Kwela 29er is a great frame @ R6400.00, but thats slightly over your price range A better bet might be a Momsen frame or frameset. The AL329 and AL529 are coming in soon, followed by the AL729 and will be very well priced. Another option will be the 2012 TWEN9AL (frame/headset/seatclamp)or even better, the 2012 TWEN9ALC with carbon rear stays.
  21. Momsen supplies some frames in that 2/3k range, but not full size bikes (for adults) SERFAS does have a few in that price range though...
  22. You like ? lol..its is a sexy frame..those lines are beautiful ! I assume you meaning the black/white racing flag detailing on the headset ? Thats the SL729... PS : If you looking for a carbon Momsen SL929, I got one for sale at R14000.00. Including REBA fork. Size medium. Brand spanking new. Or frame alone at R12000.00 and fork alone at R4000.00
  23. I attended the Momsen launch in Jhb last night, and prices are very competative. I am not going to say much more than that since the Pta and CT launches still have to happpen. What I will say is the specs are very very impressive....SID (instead of REBA) or FOX 29....full XT....ZTR rims. Various flavours available. The Dual Suss (3 varients) is also going to have a huge impact when launched. I personally love the SL729...is the perfect balance between top end carbon frame/components and a realistic price. SL329 and SL529 should be available for ordering within the next week or so...with the others following as they arrive in the country (staggered between now and Dec)
  24. Greg at the MTB WC 2011...played around with this in pse8
  25. Thats all relative and dependant on the bike, its condition and whats been added. As with any other product, the seller has a price in mind and will start above that and then negociate...or at least thats what I would do.
