  1. "Please note drinking and riding can affect your performance." I have to disagree. Riding does not affect my drinking performance.
  2. The 1st one to use for bleeding brakes - must go have a look at one.
  3. Adverts in advert section only please! Thanx.
  4. Whatever you get make sure that the ends of the "pipe" is flat and square if not it could wreak havoc with the ends of your fork. The thicker the wall of the pipe the better too.
  5. My son got a bike recently - sick to my stomach! No matter how good a rider you are!!
  6. Damn - need this thread to stick a while in the top left side but no go - I suppose it's not Friday yet but then Friday will be a bit late. WE NEED YOU!! on Saturday
  7. For him - much of a muchness - both really good bikes. Fit to suite pocket.
  8. I take that as you joining us on Saturday !
  9. You can keep well clear of the back on a mtb with slicks. In fact some years ago a mtb was in the top 10 overall. A mtb would not add more than 15min to your time.
  10. How serious are you about the Argus and Burger - If not too serious I would rather spend the R2500 on a better mtb and do the road stuff on a good mtb with slicks. What type of off-road riding are you likely to do most often as there is quite a difference in off-road bikes. (just a btw - how old are you?)
  11. I'm in - how about making it an inn with some beers. Ps: Headshot should be there with a couple of sixpacks ??
  12. Don't take it off - just find the high spot and bend with your hands - might want to put on some gloves.
  13. Time for a sting operation!!
  14. Mr Pain and shine what's up for Saturday. Are we going back to Bridle Path and finish it off (lower section). The worked we did last build held up well in the foul weather we've had. Those run-offs did their job and the dongas we filled are as we left them - great!
  15. Just come back from doing Switchbacks or Bridle Path and had a ball. Worked hard on it last build day in the hail and 2*C temp and glad to see our work endured and survived the weather we've had the last 4 weeks. Do it with someone though that path is lonely. AND if you enjoyed it come join us for build day this Saturday - car park at 9am.
  16. No!! .... 30km/h on training rides but that is on my own. If riding in larger groups then higher. I find that I pick up 5km/h on my average speed quite easily when doing the Argus. (done 24 ave 3h10/15)
  17. Forget the WATTS !! If your average speed is at 30km/h or above on your rides you can get a sub 3hr. Simple and if you can do it by keeping your cadence above 90 (make sure you keep as high a cadence uphill as possible) even better. KISS.
  18. Have had the same - find high spot place thumbs on high spot other fingers on other side of disk and put light to mild pressure on thumbs and pull pinkie in opposite direction in other words bend it. Don't force it!! Did mine with rotor still on hub as high spot was on the outside.
  19. Nah! youl'e be ok - my specs are similar and hr stays up(80) for a good number of hours. If you have mild flu (without realising it) it will also stay up for longer. As long as the initial drop is substantial and within a fairly short time period.
  20. Try the above but use epoxy paste to take up the gap. Nylon might flex a bit too much. Bush needs to go down quite far into tube not just the upper section.
  21. Johan - thanx! Fluid fade to the Tee The replacement pads are Quaxar Ceraplasma carbon metalic pads - new. Now I guess that when the fluid heated it created a gas and hence the failure. The gas - would that have dissipated back into the fluid when it cooled? Capricorn highly recommends Motul RB600/660 synth dot4 fluid as a replacement. Is there a big difference in the quality of the different brand names? I have been using Autotech 270 DOT4 brake fluid. The 270 refers to the boiling point in C (Would be 170/270). If I convert the 600/660 from f to C it equals 315/350 in C which is a big difference in temperature tolerance. Need to take note of those little numbers. Comment please. Capricorn where can I get the Motul fluid?
  22. Pls. note I am not changing to Shimano. SO! after coming down Mamba and Boomslang my front brake fades as I exit Boomslang Replaced my brake pads just before ride rear and front but did not bleed - just pushed back the pistons with a screwdriver. There was a slight rub between disk and pad on both wheels but did not think it serious thought it would settle after a while. I suspect a heat build-up on the caliper while riding. After abour 5 min of not using the brake I pumped the lever and now it's back up and seems ok. Should I have bled the brakes to get the correct space between pads and what should the space be between pad and disk? (What is the thickness of the spacer used for bleeding on Elixir 5's) I will bleed them this weekend. Have never had issues with the brakes before.
  23. This fred could actually roll over into Friday - only just but that is where it will die - posters already Fridayed out before Friday. Friday started too early this week!!
  24. New derailleur.
