  1. The Fourstroke he rode weighs 10.1kg with the dropper. Its a prototype frame using a lighter layup and carbon rocker top and bottom. Also he needs the dropper as descents have not been his strength. He's been working with his brother Rei in the off season. N1no who rides #enduro and trail doesn't use one on his XC bike.... The other roder with a droper was Dan McConnell.
  2. Wide lightning wheels are great if you intend to run a fairly wide tyre like a 2.25. If you prefer a narrower and lighter tyre then they would be too wide, squaring the tyre off quite considerably and take it from me square Tyres don't grip so lekker. The std AMC disc mtb 101 Rin would be sufficiently wide to improve the grip situation without te draw backs of a very wide rim. Also bear in mind the wide lightning dings very easily. It really needs a 2.25 minimum and then you need to be selective as too which. Schwalbe Tyres alphabet high volume casings and work well for xc purposes on WL.
  3. Going to have to reconsider your approach to that holiday with W2W entered.....
  4. yes its called a soldering iron or soddering iron if youse is a yank
  5. great bike that I like a lot. Comparing to an Anthem is a bit unfair as thats more XC/mararthn oriented. Compared to an Anthem SX its stacks up really well with the Anhem SX having a strong edge in pedalling efficiency. Coparing to a Trance, the Trance wins it. It just feels more stable and planted whether going p or down. My next favourite is the Thunderbolt and Habit. Both are very good but I feel loose out a bit to the Trance with its unrivalled stability
  6. soon, patience please
  7. Easy, you add the ultimate caliper to the RSC package . Brilliant brakes . Best I have used to date
  8. Hence the RS-1 looks like valur for money. iRD version is Just Shy of R30K incl ZA VAT. (US$ prices excl GST or VAT) At least its stiffer than the SID! The Step-Cast is less stiff than its lower tier siblings
  9. Have you not insisted on a warranty replacement yet?
  10. Starting to make a RS-1 look like value for money
  11. why did the residents and horse riders block the opening of the fire road access? Is this due to pettiness?
  12. ...r...I..g......h.........t and in other news I've been appointed as new group CEO of Specialised replacing Mr. Sinsyard. the announcement will be published later today when Californmaia wakes up
  13. Does my Specialist Humpstumper qualify as OEM?
  14. and the process thereafter?
  15. fortunately no ones holding a gun to your head to buy Eagle. Choice is still a freedom we enjoy.
  16. and the lower jockey wheel is 14T not 12T to allow for the additional chain without extending the jockey cage
  17. Yes Jeroe is running XO1 Eagle because its more focussed toward AM and Enduro due to the tougher crank
  18. And as I said dropping the chain and having zero drive has a higher probability hence 1x. with 1x11 and gripshift I can use the whole range of the cassette very quickly. And lastly, Even whenI used flippy shifters and rapid rise, I didn't have problems with "surprise hills". I did have problems with dropped and jammed chains (between chain stay and chainring) and since I've engineered Shimano FD to work with SRAM shifters reliably, even with systems designed to work together dropped chains are just a reality on a full suspension MTB in the heat of battle. Hence......1x bye bye dropped chains, no more broken chains My team mate broke a chain during a stage race. Yip 2x system. Never seen a rider break a chain with 1x
  19. Yes it is easier to drop a chain hence 1x
  20. Surprise hills...... What just add water
