  1. This guy knows. Went ANT+ a while back after my laptop forgot it had bluetooth drivers installed and I couldn't reinstall them and I've not had a single dropped connection since.
  2. A fairly prolific (male) poster on this thread was spotted on chappies this morning riding what looked suspiciously like a Liv Langma in a very nice purple. I was pre sunrise and I do have ballie vision and I was bleeding through my eyeballs so I could be wrong but I kinda sorta think I'm not........
  3. I'm so scared of that hill. I'm always super careful going down there. Which is probably actually more dangerous coz I'm likely to be collected one day by some chump who hits his drops with his knee coz he's trying out the Froome tuck for the first time. Ok hijack off.
  4. So how's this? On Suikerbossie they have been trapping every weekend for the last 3 weeks at least (I personally have absolutely no problem with this) But..... There's a clearly visible traffic van close to the top which looks to me like it's a decoy. Coz the actual trap is much lower down. 😄 They have also been having regular road blocks. Funny thing is when they see my Malinois's head out the side window I get waved past.
  5. You're looking at it backwards. The laws are only enforced on those that will comply. Like when riot police descended on HB beach to stop people from walking on the beach. Those same riot police are strangely absent when there is an actual riot going on.
  6. For me the advantage of a Zwift type product is that it's on my bike in my garage in my time. So this would be a hard pass for me. When you try to push it into a class environment it will lose a lot of what makes it good. and the whole let's ride together idea flies out the window cos Fris Chris pumps out 6 watts per kilo and I put out 2.5 watts per kilo. So even if we do the same power based workout I'll only see him at the start. Plus if you read their terms of service they are fairly specific about not using the service commercially. There is a gym specific thing called spivi (I'm sure it's not the only one) that they run at my step daughters gym. This seems more suitable to a class type environment. It has structured workouts that the instructors run and they throw in their own music. It has a point system and you ride in a little virtual world much like Zwift. The difference seems to be that you ride against your ftp. So if Fris Chris rides at his 6 watts per kilo and I ride at 2.5 we will stay "together". So it's spinning class meets Zwift. Better for that environment IMO. *Edit. I tried spivi yesterday. No ERG mode which is a huge limiting factor. It picks up my smart trainer and HR monitor but you need to use the gears to make power. Your little man rides along in the cartoon and you have to stay between the lines onscreen so keep in the correct power. You can redo classes that have been saved or you can do your own workout. Great for a class environment.
  7. https://www.poobienaidoos.co.za/ Cheap shoes. But don't got to a shop. Get good advice and buy from poobie. That's a dick move
  8. I'd get professional advice rather than put it to a forum. But FWIW. I have a pair of GT2000 8's They are finished so they've been repurposed as trail running, dog walking, gardening shoes. I bought a pair of Kayano 28's which are the more premium support shoe. They run hotter than the GT2000's and the toe box is narrower. Very happy with them but if I could rewind the clock I'd get the GT2000 10's *disclaimer. I run 15-20km a week VERY slowly.
  9. What saddens me most about all of this (Apart from people losing their hard earned cash) is that I truly believe that there is a massive potential market for inbound and outbound cycling adventure tours. What form this will take in the future I don't know but I think people are looking away from the traditional race scene towards a more adventure based alternative. The advent of decent e bikes explodes the potential of this. Someone like this screwing the pooch is ruining a potentially great lifestyle business for someone.
  10. My vote goes to the Elite Suito. Great trainer that folds up nice and small when Summer comes around. I have an Elite Zumo and it's not given me a minute of trouble. * btw no one is going to say I have an xyz trainer and it's total shirt so your entire thread is essentially a survey on market share..
  11. Such a solid guy. Running the national champions sleeve this year too. Ike Klaasen is entered in juniors. That kid is the real deal. I don't think Greg is the only saffer that's going to find his way onto a podium this year
  12. I've just had a thought. With some planning one could do a point to point thing organized by yourself using Uber Connect to get your gear to the next overnight stop. You'd obviously have to arrange it with the hotel/bnb up front and you'd have to do all of the route planning and bookings yourself. But the internet is awash with information. I would plan a rough route. Starting in your city of arrival (Say Toulouse for example) Then plan a rough route that ends in a place where you could catch a small commuter flight or train back to your original point of departure. Then you start breaking it down into daily routes with overnight stops giving yourself plenty of time. I also like to buy regional maps of the place we're planning to go to. These are also easily sourced on the internet. You'd rent bikes coz bike bags are a massive headache to move around. Then you sort out Uber Connect to lug your gear to the next stop every night. Or you can pay someone $ to do all of that for you. Which is obviously preferable but will work out more expensive.
  13. For me Zwift is unquestionably a better overall product but there's 3 of us in the house that ride. $15 for 3 family members makes Rouvy the winner for us. Come winter time When the trainer comes out we'll probably be on RGT tho. I'm just hoping they free up a few more workouts before then.
  14. Another option..... Rent an RV. it won't be point to point but you can drive to a place. Do a ride. Return to the RV and repeat. You'd have to do a bit of planning yourself ITO ride routes, camping facilities etc. We looked at this for a possible trip to the Pyrenees but Covid. You don't need a special license if the RV is under 3500kg. The site below isn't quite like airbnb and the owners typically ask for a safety deposit of around 1000 Euro in cash. https://www.yescapa.com/motorhomes/33687/ **Disclaimer. I've not done this but it's something I've looked into.
  15. My other half and I looked into doing this as well. Cycle from the Atlantic to the Med along the canals. https://en.francevelotourisme.com/cycle-route/canal-des-2-mers-by-bike-atlantic-mediterranean-sea https://www.10adventures.com/tour/two-seas-canal-by-bike-atlantic-mediterranean/ WW 3 dependent we're currently planning a trip in late September early October to Nice to do a little road cycling and running along the Med. Fly Turkish into Nice. The flight arrives in the morning and leaves late in the evening so that effectively gives you an extra day on the ground. Plus no Sandpit airlines. We will airbnb. My wife likes to cook so we try to airbnb close to a market. When in Europe we try to integrate as best as possible so we kind of pick a spot and hang out there. It makes it cheaper too coz no rental cars. The rough plan is to cycle, rest, run. Repeat. For about 9 days. We'll rent bikes. We just take saddles, pedals and GPS's and fit those in the bike shop. We probably won't bother taking saddles this time.
  16. That looks pretty damned amazing. $3350 per person feels like a LOT of money for a bike trip that excludes meals and bike rental tho. That's 100k if you're taking the Mrs. Sans flights, food and bikes. That puts it firmly on the no way in hell list for me. @the OP. If you're flying turkish you are going to be paying $90 each way per bike so factor that into your costs. That additional cost plus the hassle of taking 2 gigantic bike boxes and lugging them around Europe make renting a real option. My wife and my last trip to Mallorca (it feels like a long time ago) we rented bikes and it made the whole trip so much better. Doing that allowed us to do the tourist thing in Paris on the way back which would have been impossible had we taken our own bikes. Sorry all I can't resist. I'll just pop this in here as a thought. It's not point to point and it's not off the beaten track but if you're into moto and enduro..... You can message me or @capediver and we'll give you the lowdown.
  17. Ok got the lenses. They seem fine. There is definitely a difference in weight/quality? between the 2. The replacement parts feel a bit more flimsy compared to the original oakley ones. But I'm happy with my purchase. I washed the frames with a little brush and fitted the lenses. Good as brand new.
  18. Too true. From my perspective I've noticed a huge amount of old surfers dusting off boards and squeezing back into wetsuits as people have gone back outdoors due to a new found appreciation of our freedoms. Unfortunately some okes have not taken kindly to the influx of interlopers and surf spots seem more territorial than I've ever known them to be. Same principal with places like the promenade. People claiming ownership of something that isn't theirs and keeping newcomers at bay. #irony
  19. What do you ride with? For me honestly I prefer riding with those yellow lenses. I have a pair for my Jawbreakers and for me they are the best riding lens. They take in a huge amount of light which I love for that sort of mottled shade on the mountain bike and in low light and raining conditions on the roadie they are amazing.
  20. Ok I've got Jawbones so it will be a good test. Interestingly I can't ride with the Oakley Przm lense. Especially on the mountain bike. I keep seeing weird little anomalies that i find distract me. It's hard to explain but the blades of grass will change color for example. And I find that incredibly distracting.
  21. I just ordered a set of lenses from these guys. I'll report back on the outcome.
  22. We were delayed in JHB for 6 hours after waking up at 6am the day before in Bassano and flying from Venice-Doha-JHB. Big time sense of humor failure. I'll never fly them if I'm paying for the flight.
  23. I have one of these boys and it works great and is one of the best bits of cycling kit I've ever owned. But it's most certainly not waterproof. Water delay is more accurate. It's best use for me is that first 20 minutes when you leave home in winter before you are warm. It's amazing to keep the wind chill at bay.
