  1. I've done it on my soft tail with normal tubbies (terrible) and then soft tail with slicks (was much better). I considered getting a cheap road bike but went the slicks route and it was perfect. As others have said - got have fun and don't try race.
  2. Just unsubscribed to Cycle Lab emails. The unsubscribe link took me to a morecorp.co.za domain - More Corp own the lot of them so I guess one could call them and tell them to stop spamming you with SMS’s
  3. I think that’s a good choice- there are also some great deals on trainers in the classified section here.I’ve only used Zwift- been too lazy to try any others
  4. Wahoo Tickr X HR Strap going for R929 on the Takealot App under the App Only Deals section.
  5. Thanks, she lives on the trainer in winter but occasionally comes off for a winter ride Cos the trainer is a direct drive- it’s a quick process to remove the rear wheel and pop it onto the trainer. The Wahoo’s have great compatibility with MTB’s in general
  6. 2015 S-Works Camber and a Kickr 3XX1 -> XX1 Eagle
  7. From me to me: Apparently you need to upgrade your trainer to Eagle as well (The flowers for the Mrs are part of the groupset )
  8. I would assume that a factory spindown would be done using the Wahoo App.. If so, I'd suggest not having any other apps such as Zwift/Trainer Road etc open when doing this as I've found that it's caused problems.
  9. This is what the entrance looks like (sorry about the large photo- using my phone): When my mate and I rode the route late last year, some of the pipe bridges were destroyed by a controlled fire. It’s a cool section, just be careful with all the stairs!
  10. You could always buy it on your credit card and pay for it using the budget option... ????‍♂️
  11. This may sound extreme but I'm still alive today...
  12. Did the final stage this evening... It was revolting ???? Was my first time up the Alpe- it’s relentless with hardly any recovery points. Good luck to those of you doing it
  13. Did this at 19:00 last night on my MTB - also ran out of gears on a 1 x 11. If anyone knows how to fix this on Zwift / Kickr 3, please let me know. I've set my trainer difficulty to 70/75%. Beyond annoyed not being able to put the power down...
  14. Not sure how you plan on setting it up with Bluetooth/ANT+ but if you do go the ANT+ route, I'd suggest getting an ANT+ dongle and a standard USB extension. You can then leave the dongle under the bike which in my experience prevents any dropouts/lags. I got mine from Cyborg - they were great.
  15. I've set myself a goal to get the Tron Bike before the end of the year... Should be attainable if I continue doing workouts plus the odd free ride here and there. I've done 10 000m of in game climbing since the middle of Feb
  16. My suggestion would be to check out: https://zwiftinsider.com/category/getting-started/ If you want to move up levels quickly, hit the workouts - you'll score loads of points. I can usually do about 1 level up per week, doing 3/4 workouts per week. I think you'd need some form of Bluetooth Bridge to allow for all the sensors to work. I think something like a 4iiii HR strap can do this but you'll need to do some research on this.
  17. I purchased an Intel NUC i3, 7th Generation with 8GB of RAM and a 500GB HDD off Carbonite from JazzyC for R2500. It's worked brilliantly so far- maybe get in touch with him, and see what he can help with. https://carbonite.co.za/index.php?threads/8th-gen-intel-nuc-i3-8gb-ddr4-ram-500gb-hdd-r3000.241444/#post-1652502
  18. Reach out to @Christian van Zyl
  19. I'm running a Kickr 3 with an XX1 Cassette- not sure if this helps but I'm sure it'll work. When in doubt, contact @Christian van Zyl
  20. I've signed up for this... Already feeling anxious
  21. I wanted to mount my phone on my Garmin half turn mount for my indoor trainer so came up with this solution: Purchased one of these from the thegadgetshop: (If you sign up for their newsletter, you can get R100 off ) I then needed an adapter from the quad lock to the Garmin half turn. I found a 3D print design which some kind fellow on the internet made. Link here to the file Sent the file to the very helpful guys from Rapid3d and this arrived earlier today: Time to hit the pain cave
