  1. WP Champs take place this weekend. there is a mixture of undulating terrain, a section of guttering and a nasty little climb that will keep the sprinters honest. it'll be intersting to see if CSC ride
  2. you are right in the middle of cycling paradise. one way you can go the Helshoogte, Jondershoek, Paarl (wide hard shoulders) the other way to somerset West / Strand / Gordons Bay (wide hard shoulder). u have Maverick Cycles in Somerset West , speak with them they might know of someone to ride with. but yes pack in the Orca.
  3. Paddy Agnew actually made his name in sports commentating covering horse racing.
  4. good advice but when are Cyclelab going to make the DVD?????? to sell to the unsuspecting public.

    .

meaning..........what. you contradict yourself. "the team should be representative of the country" in political (ANC) language that means so many ethnic blacks MUST be in the team.......like i said "please correct me if i'm wrong"

the CSA have development officers - period. but they are volenteers. if the CSA want to implement a development programme then they need to employ a development coach/team on a full time basis - who are paid - to do the job. the team must then tour the country id promising riders. btw Paul Minnaar rode in a development team in the last Rapport Tour, has he been coached or developed since then?????? NO, he hasn't, so as far a devlopment is concerned, he's over the hill. Khaka rode for the Junior SA team in Canada a few years ago and rode brilliantly.....what has he done since??????what has CSA done to develop him????

Paul Minnaar?????has been a development rider for the last 7 years....obviously well connected. he comes out of retirement , when the need arises.
  9. it is when it comes to exposure and money to be earned.
  10. they were piss ....ing poor....sack Arthur and bring in Jennings , if Smith doesn't like it tough ****...goodbye
  11. wots he up to???? if he is trying to resucitate his career with CSA then he should be at track champs in jhb. riders graduate from track / mtn to road to make it in the sport. DG is going backwards.......fast
  12. our boys need a psycologist - they all know how to play.
  13. if my memory serves me correct , Kyle Swain was selected to attend the UCI Training Centre in Swiss. (Diane Emery attended at the same time). once the training was completed (3 years i think) and he progressed to the u23 / elite category he promptly retired. what a waste of time and money. The SACF backed JP van Zyl with regard to funds etc and equipment without any returns in terms of medals at CW or Olympic Games. there just does not seem to be any "development direction" of our young promising riders. like no name funrider says " Quite right ;we do have the occasional total track star ;but i think that is more genetics and self dtermination than local training.(or whatever)"
  14. i agree 4 Passes is fantastic , haven't done it for a few years now , how is the traffic nowadays?
  15. just take into account that it was tri-nations i.e. almost like a "friendly" no fame or glory if you win a race. on Monday they go back to their other jobs again. for the o/seas elite riders, it was an all expenses paid training session (maybe the Kazaks came for the sun). The Junior Dutch team got some experience of o/seas conditions and hot weather. come B Worlds track will be something else. i cant wait for the 10 / 15 k scratch races and the Devil
  16. Barrydale to Ladismith & Back. to qualify for a medal, teams must do it in under 6 hours
  17. i propose van Rhynsdorp to Calvinia and back
  18. simple - they don't get paid if their average speed is low (obviously taking into account conditions). the women don't race with the men at SA's why should the Argus be any different - oh i forgot the PPA make up the rules
  19. entertainment is the name of the game - why do you think WWE Raw is so popular.
  20. if you are not involved at club/provincial level in cycling and only ride your bike for fun or to race, you really don't know the complexities of our sport at management level. IMO i think that since Bellairs and Whittikar have been on the exco of the CSA they have realised the "importance" of the licensed cyclist and the uphill struggle the provincial bodies have in keeping the standard of racing at an acceptable level. 2008 will be a very interesting year and will be a make or break for cycling.
  21. Anke is by no means the fastest ladies sprinter. Only three ladies could keep up with the men. For once the strongest rider won. and their lies the problem, if they rode on their own maybe more of the ladies would have contested the sprint, not only the three who kept up with the Vets.
  22. why do the ladies need to ride with the vets to show us how strong they are? what would happen if they were "ringfenced" and had to race on their own, would we then not only see their strength but also their race and tactical skills. racing with the vets just means the get taken to the line and the best sprinter wins.
