  1. Makes me wonder just how k@k bottas really is. This merc is very clearly lights out ahead of the rest.
  2. Valencia Marathon this weekend, I haven't checked if its going to be on tv yet, but I sure hope so. This field is STACKED! https://www.letsrun.com/news/2020/12/the-deepest-marathon-ever-is-sunday-2020-valencia-is-going-to-be-incredible/
  3. This video is a masterpiece. Wow
  4. Well first is to get in the pool. Don't worry about races. Open water swims would be great to eventually add on, but depending on where you choose your 70.3 (or whatever race) , the ocean is a different beast. So get comfortable being able to swim however far and then the rest is a on the day 'learning curve'. Granted swimming in a group can be crazy but I found no amount of pool/fresh water swimming prepared me for the salt especially, and waves. I've only done 2 sprints and I hated them. They are literally a flat out sprint, start to finish. And that's not my jam. My first tri was actually a 70.3. If you have the bike down, can get the run fitness back, and can just work on your swimming, then I say just go for the 70.3. Even though they can also be aggressively quick it's a very different race to the sprint. (to be honest this is why the full IM appealed to me - its not so frantic the whole time) Saying that though, if Trinity is across the road then it would be silly to not try them out. If for nothing else to test your kit and just have a go. But I still think you're safe picking the 70.3 as your main immediate goal.
  5. Cool pic. Does a drone fold up enough to fit in your pocket?
  6. Killian pulled out after 134kms. So ja. Theres a Norwegian chap though who's smoking national records. 12 hour (I don't know the distance) , and a 12:46 100 mile. Edit :in fact he may also have dropped now
  7. Fun fact: Yiannis came to SA to run a 100km race in Stellies in 1988. Only when he was here did he learn about apartheid. He started the race but pulled out a km from the finish line (from the lead) so that his name would not appear on the records, in rebellion to apartheid laws. Shortly thereafter at a 24 hour race in the UK the organisers found out about his SA race entry and DQ'd him based on their anti-apartheid stance. Same thing almost happened again at a race in Aus but he managed to sign a UN petition denouncing the SA apartheid laws and was then eventually allowed to race again.
  8. Hmm. Any bets? For some reason (and I don't know why I'd doubt him) I don't think he gets even close.
  9. The Cannondale Eugene?
  10. That's legit. Well done to Coros
  11. Maybe this is a thinly veiled ploy to get everyone to realize how grateful they are for the off topic space...
  12. I just caught a 30min segment on the Otter (or Retto to be politically correct) on Supersport. One: My gawd its a beautiful area! Definitely definitely need to get there. Two: And more importantly. The Spanish chap who won, Pere Aurell, has the most monstrous quads! Mountain/sky running for the win, good grief. Don't let anyone say running makes you skinny
  13. Hope it works out. The fall timing just kind of sums up 2020 though doesn't it.... I didn't know if they were going to have the event, I mean there are usually 2 or 3 thousand people running? I see they have a different route this year, and limited numbers. Good on them for still putting on something.
  14. Suunto 9 of various models are on a decent sale (less 2 or 3k) at Drifters, for the Gauteng'ers. Edit: in fact, Cape Town too

There are times when sport REALLY needs crowds. And (quali and) the race was one of those. Mig deserved a home crowd, what a ride. Really enjoyed the moto2 race, thats how season finales should always be, and I won't lie I switched off for most of gp when BB binned it, but I felt pretty uneasy watching the big bikes around that circuit, they seemed (even more so) a fraction away from a big accident ALL the time. Some of those slow-mo shots cresting the hill and diving down were just epic though. What a year for Brad, what a boytjie.

This Portimao circuit is awesome. I love the elevation changes.
  18. Sorry dude, thats a sh*t hot bike
  19. Ja I can't wait for Shimano to bring out a 10 rear, it'll make my silly compact crank a little more substantial
  20. Some farms in Thailand have embraced the ducks. But, again we're just using them as tools and I shudder at thought of how they're kept for the time they're not being used. I don't agree with this practice. I just remember laughing at how excited they were to hit the paddy.
  21. What are you most excited for? that you couldn't get from all the other watches. (serious question) Edit: oh, well this was a reply to Markellis, before the threads got chopped
  22. The new Spez (the one with the cupboard door on the back) I think is as expensive as Canyon. The old Shiv was good value for money. Trek I don't think spec as highly here, they're cheap as chips, for reason. I can't remember seeing a Giant Trinity on the roads, I don't think of them as super-bikes anyway so suspect the price is too
  23. This is going to be a tough nut to crack. (At least they chose an appropriate name!) Either way its going to take a long time I reckon. A watch isn't something you buy say every year, even if this one being very well priced. I don't know how it can possibly work better than the usual suspects, I haven't read the blurb yet, but it'll need to pull some punches.
  24. I don't like the fragile look of a single riser, nor the y-shaped bars, but credit where its due - its a very clean and 'clever' looking cockpit. What I really like is how deep the front fork is, makes it look very fast. Also, some of the front on shots make them look quite wide. Its not Team GB Hope track bike wide, but I'd be interested to see it in the flesh.
