  1. He's like a lab rat?
  2. Dangle... The Cure... just too good
  3. Wasnt his wife or girlfriend also bust doping? She was either a cyclo-cross or mtb chick?? cant remember....If so, the kids gonna have issues!!
  4. i enjoyed my last generation gripshift in the fun quick technical stuff, but long rides, especially wet rides, i remember the gripshift chowing my hands and gloves.... im sticking with my 2x10 X0 triggers, for now...
  5. I saw that too, but i think the compulsory portage was only the down section and burry and christoph thought it was the whole bit before aswell? So i dont think the others "cheated"...
  6. i Dont believe its rider height thats gonna decides the wheels size.. i think hardtails should be 29, becaues you can keep the overall length of the bike managable, short travel full suss 27,5, and long travel ie. downhill 26... a long travel slack head angle downhill bike would be incumbently long with 29in wheels.. and so forth... Caerus.... there isnt a single switchback in Giba that i cannot ride on my 29er hardtail... infact, and i might just have improved my skills?, but i remember putting feet down more often in Giba on my 26... but i havent riden a 26 since 2010??
  7. KE and DG are great competitors... Burry is a great amasador for MTB and South Africa... They are clearly the two strongest teams.... let them race it out.. no politics!!!
  8. i posted this in the battery life thread but not sure help lies there?? But, .... i have just had my 705 warranty swopped for a 800. I find that you have to touch or swipe twice to change screens. Its like you wake the screen up when you first touch and then second touch changes it? once its awake it moves with one touch, but after 15 or 30 seconds you have to swipe twice again? The backlight is OFF. Is there anyway to override this? On the edge 705 this only happens when the backlight is on. The screen on the 800 is not as sunlight readable as the 705....
  9. While we talking edge 800.... i have just had my 705 warranty swopped for a 800. I find that you have to touch or swipe twice to change screens. 10. im in the UK fairly often.. there is an Evans cycles in Glasgow that i get kit from.. If you dont know, Evans is a big cycle store chain, carrying awsome brands and product ranges. Full finger spez glove 23 pounds... im sure they R450 or more here Bottle cages (i think its caled "rib cage") 8 pounds..... R235 in SA UK have import duties, taxes and VAT etc... So you cant say the difference is duty related in SA..
  11. Thanks for the help guys.
  12. that's interesting, cause the SRAM website seems to think the press fit bearings are far better protected from contamination and last better?
  13. problem solved... I just measured the bb shell and it's a press fit 30..which means a press fit GXP Bb goes straight in..
  14. Ya, it seems there is an adaptor that the standard GXP BB threads into. Maybe a new crank is the expensive, buy right way to do this?
  15. Dangle, I hope you right. I pulled up some crank / BB specs off the sram site and all i could see is "Pressfit GXP BB", but the BB shell in the frame needs to be 41mm dia.. BB30 shell is 46mm dia. So prehaps "Pressfit 30 GXP " is another one?
  16. What options do i have to fit a Sram 2 x 10 X9 GXP crank in a BB30 frame? I know there are adaptors available, but which are readily available in SA and has anyone had good or bad experiences with these? Other option is to sell my GXP crank and fit a new BB30 one? Anyone been in this dilemmer before?
  17. He speaks sense to me.. i tend to agree. i my view, as we evoled close to the equator, we had access to animals (protein / fat) and to a lesser degree, fruit (carbs). Then as we moved to the colder climates, the fruits werent so available, but man still threw spears at Deer etc. so our diet was prodominantly protein and fat..... Then we got clever and cultivated crops.... this was the point where our diet became flooded with carbs.. ie wheat, maize etc. Make sense??
  18. im very happy with purple extreme.... To me it seems like the happy medium between a very clean product and its lube qualities!! Sure, motor oil is probably the best lube, but is disasterously messy... and some of those dry wax lubes are very clean, but within 40km's the chain is squeeking and ultimately wearing!!
  19. 1hill@atime... please... the needle is killing me, i cant watch it!!!!!
  20. Must run medium cage derrailers on 2 x 10.. i had this problem with a long cage. i changed to medium cage and make sure your chain is not too long... no slapping, tension kept tight.... Go medium cage!!
  21. Big ups to the changes on that route... Went through on saturday and loved it.. Carried on the "Bizhub" route... was epic.... Bit overgrown toward the end, but all good.. Jumps are well designed,,, could even jump the table tops on my 29er!!! and i was a roadie convert!!
  22. Eldron, how does the Air9 compare ride wise to the Giant XTC? Can you feel any handling difference?
  23. I'm not sure if i agree that everyone wants to beat the pants off everyone else? i reckon at an MTB race of 1000 entries. the first 200 have seriously competitive spirits, possition 200 - 500 are after PB and maybe get a kick from whipping their mates, 500 to 850 are after a personal challenge in life and 150 riders in the field just love riding their bikes? ask the 20 000 riders at 94.7 why they are there... im not sure they there to compete flat out.. infact the minority are probably ttying to proove something, the rest are challenging themselves.
  24. Ya, Tumbleweed.. I was riding a few minutes behind them and arrived at the mess. I woudnt wish that feeling of apoaching that scene on my worst enemy... I dont know the girl, but ride with Charlie and his son every week.
  25. the vehicles number plate came off and was with the mangled bikes. the police have the details. The girl has head injuries, but she was concious and seemed like there is no permanent brain injury.. lets hope. Charlie, is sore all over and is being x rayed now, he was on his feet at the scene.
