  1. For sure it's not easy, the extra speed on the bike is my motivation at the moment. Only really posting as inspiration to others. No other way that I know of to get 10% quicker in 7 days (legally)
  2. Resurrecting an old thread... I stopped smoking 9 days ago with the aid of patches. I used to smoke almost a pack a day. I tried it last year using the stage 2 15mg patch but I didn't see it through. This time I am on the stage 1 25mg patch and it's working like a charm. As a bit of inspiration after just 7 days the difference on the bike is HUGE. My previous best up Suikerbossie was 7min flat... 7 days clean I did it quite easily in 6min 36sec.
  3. Going there for my first ever bike fit in Friday, let's see what happens
  4. That's the reason I gave it a miss this year
  5. Thanks
  6. If I enter now is the only way to pick up my entry at the event at 5:30am?
  7. Maybe the lower the pressures are more prone to tyres cutting. I always run my tyres at 95 psi. I wouldn't dare run them at lower than 80 psi for fear they would unseat at 80km/h down Kloof Nek!
  8. I bought a Sherpr bike box and travelled from London to Cape Town with BA. I paid £65 for an additional piece of luggage (doesn't matter if it is a bicycle, golf clubs or a normal suitcase). I also travelled Cape Town to Italy via Dubai with Emirates and back. The bike and the case travelled with zero damage and I paid nothing to transport it.
  9. Clarkson is just an attention seeking little tart
  10. I've said it many times before. Go get some Schwalbe Pro Ones and some Orange Sealant and forget your frustrations and punctures. I had them for a year and a half on American Classic Victory 30's and since December on my SLR Giant wheels. I need to check the spare inner tube that I carry because it has been folded up in my tool bag for more than 2 years now
  11. How many times have you stopped to fix a puncture on the side of the road? I also carry a spare tube but haven't used it in over 2 years. I one had 3 punctures in one day but just kept on riding because it sealed up.
  12. I'm travelling to Italy with my bike next week and was concerned obviously about the bike but also the hard case. According to Emirates you only sign that indemnity if you travel with a soft case? 00:09:58 Andreas : Unfortunately I have heard of many many bad stories about bikes being transported with Emirates. Do you cover the cost of repair to the cycles travel case if it is damaged? 00:11:45 Stefano : I'm afraid as per below 00:11:46 Stefano : Passengers carrying bicycles should have the bicycles wrapped in a strong hard shell package and not in soft bag in order to withstand ramp handling and aircraft loading. Additionally handlebars should be fixed sideways, pedals removed or folded inwards, wheels removed and placed on either side of the frame and the tyres deflated. In case passenger wishes to check-in bicycle with soft packing, a Form of Indemnity should be signed by passenger prior to acceptance of bicycle at check-in. This is to release Emirates from any liability and passenger must be informed accordingly, 00:12:40 Stefano : it should be if you follow the packing correctly 00:12:51 Stefano : as we do for damaged baggage 00:13:02 Andreas : I understand that the liability lies with me if you damage the bike but what if Emirates destroys my bike box? 00:13:56 Stefano : in the eventuality this happen you would need to fill a claim online through the complaint form 00:14:08 Stefano : this is the procedure for normal baggage 00:14:41 Andreas : Is my bike box classified as normal baggage? 00:16:20 Stefano : if you follow the info for wrapping the bicycle as per above yes.. otherwise you will sign the Form of Indemnity to release Emirates from any liability 00:16:42 Andreas : OK thanks
  13. BikeBox Alan is generally regarded as one of the toughest
  14. I tried Stans when I ran out of Orange Seal and you're right, it only holds air up to 40psi. I'm back to Orange and it's fantastic. I left home a couple of weeks ago in the dark, as it got light I noticed sealant all over the rear of the bike. I didn't even notice I had a puncture and my tyre maybe dropped 5 psi down to 90psi. The biggest difference is the clean up process. Getting Stans off is a nightmare. Orange Seal comes off easily just by wiping it off with your finger in 2/3 minutes.
  15. I take a spare tube, a tiny mini pump, valve adapter so you can use a petrol station pump if nearby, tyre lever and a couple of patches and glue... Oh, and a MyCiti bus pass!
  16. Funny how there is no mention of going to the cops etc, etc.
  17. My good friend in the UK says he and 20 of his riding group rode the whole UK winter with Pirelli Cinturatos. 290grams a tyre but nobody stopped to put an inner tube in since October last year.
  18. You guys are hardcore. I wanted to come but at 3am there was an almighty downpour in town so I went back to bed
  19. I also commute. I'm still using my tried and tested orange seal with the schwalbe Pro ones. In one day I had a thorn, a staple and an earing in my front tyre. Stopped, pulled them out, sealed instantly and kept riding. I bought a TCR which came with the lighter Gavia tyres. The sealant from Giant (Sludge) wouldn't hold air over 35psi
  20. I've been looking at some ebike reviews on YouTube and it looks like a lot of fun. I'm not interested in an assisted road bike but it looks great for riding MTB
  21. Was that around misty cliffs? The medics were doing cpr on the side of the road. Didn't look good, pray he made it.
  22. Don't know why there is so much negativity, windguru says not much wind on sunday
