  1. I want some of the courage you have when riding 60mm+ rims in 40km/h cross winds
  2. Also with Lynskey on this, just do the upgrade! There are some very nice options in the classifieds as well, then post the pictures later!
  3. Would go for the bike with disc brakes, as it's a fair bit more costly to buy a groupset with hydraulic brakes that work well with disc brakes. Nothing wrong with Ultegra mechanical either. You won't be able to upgrade a rim brake bike to disc brakes, unless the frame was built around supporting both standards (those are rare) Even if you could, you would then need new hubs for the wheels or a whole new wheelset, as well as a partial groupset (shifters, calipers, discs) to support disc brakes (mechanical disc calipers aren't great).
  4. XT and XTR are quite a bit better than the SLX ones. Have yet to snap a XT/XTR one.
  5. It can be done, it may just take a while. I wouldn't recommend learning CAD/CAM unless you have plenty of time on your hands and are willing to spend some long hours looking at a screen... Do you have any pictures of what the part looked like before it broke? I have seen a few files of a potential fix, but not sure if it's what you are looking for. Some of them seem to clip onto the garmin mount and then have a short arm to the light.
  6. Should be able to 3D print something like that, quite easily actually. Largest thing is if a file for that already exists on the likes of Thingiverse/Yeggi/printables, if not, you may need to sit and design the part. I have successfully printed a few Garmin Varia mounts, as well as the entire out front mount(albeit it was a dual sided mount, hinged from both sides of the stem). Use the likes of PETG or Nylon filament as it's UV resistant and has a much higher glass temperature than the likes of PLA/PLA+.
  7. Saw some mention of 5800 somewhere. So would make it 11sp.
  8. Have never had much long term success with derailleur hanger extenders (personal experience), given it was on a mountain bike and a 10sp system, always found the last sprocket was a bit of a struggle on that setup. Also found the smallest sprocket had too much lateral play being a bit further removed from the sprocket with the extended hanger. It wouldn't shift into the 11t properly. System was using a new cable and outer as well. If you still have the old cage, it may be worth getting someone to spot weld it and then retap the longer cage with the correct size bolt.
  9. Think N21 was the shared team car? Also, I am not understanding the whole shout it from the hill top attitude? Can someone explain that? (Just me?)
  10. You can contact and ask them directly, but think it's luck of the draw at times. Their customer service is pretty decent. Also have a look at Merlin in the UK, they used UPS last I ordered which was in April. Pretty sure CRC may be able to make an exception to use DHL if you tell them the situation with SA Aramex.
  11. Have found UPS/Fedex and DHL to be decent. Unfortunate about delaying the process agreed, unfortunately part of the process. Don't think they could make a consumer database with ID's and stuff, too many popia concerns.
  12. Now with Aralate, ordered in May (with express delivery) and items arrived via Aramex, it was a complete mess... They used the wrong code for the items, queried and they were not interested, ended up paying double the import fees just to get the items. They were a week late on their promised date, total of 2.5 weeks for said items. Not bad overall, but they could do with a serious customer service upgrade.
  13. Confirmation of Sunday’s hosting will regrettably only be possible once the anticipated rain damage has been assessed by the organising team, officials and the authorities. ^^ Taken from the Instagram page ^^
  14. https://www.news24.com/news24/southafrica/news/postpone-outdoor-plans-western-cape-disaster-teams-on-high-alert-as-cold-wet-weather-approaches-20230728 Seems like it's everything outdoors in the WC...
  15. Decision was made by disaster management, NOT the organisers... So yes, while frustrating, disaster management clearly have more information/experience than we do, it's unfortunate yes, but safety of every individual out there is paramount at the end of the day. Enjoy the weekend away and if you get to race on Sunday, then bonus.
  16. Forecast has improved quite a bit in the last few hours, here's to hoping it's only 20mm and less!
  17. Spare a thought for all the crew that will be out there on Saturday ensuring everything runs as smoothly as possible. At least the amount of rain has decreased from deluge status to normal rain.
  18. Any reason as to why the chain guide?
  19. Awesome, that will look great! Csixx derailleur cage in raw aluminium? Me too, wanted a silver Pike for my Pyga build and had to settle for black aswell.
  20. Is that a polished bar as well? Good looking bike!
  21. Seems the Canola is starting already?
  22. Out of interest, what spokes were used on this build?
  23. R302 out toward Malmesbury, thankful for the sunny few days the Cape is having! Then to the bike shop to replace snapped spokes
