it was good to see the western cape cycling Association road race around Slaghoek and Rawsonville this am....weather much better than last week....when it had to be cancelled...

very classy by Jumbo.....but that was a crazy stage....just crazy....

had to laugh.....

seems the reaction of a tired person....but not a great idea to be aggressive towards the UCI etc....seems they took apart the yellow jerseys bike...

Bahrain on the front at the moment...too early?....Unless Landa is strong today and is planning something...

The rain on a Monday was light and present after a few days of cycling inactively....it was good as always to get the Hard-tail out go up a few little local vineyard climbs as time allowed....it allowed my legs to stretch...area was quiet dry even after all the rain yesterday...

End of week 2 before a deserved rest day for the teams.Its been a good week for racing...Sunweb and their approach have been a joy to watch. The green jersey battle has been nearly better than the GC battle.Today Bennett was marking Sagan,that was essential racing... sometimes a great climb and the harder that it is, doesn't really make for exciting explosive racing.Jumbo and Dumoulin might be upset that they didn't take todays win.They controlled so well but surprised at Bernal and Quintana. Tomorrow....rest day.. and COVID testing....this could change the race... lets look forward to a good 3rd week.....

great to hear that they were discussing concussion....the world feed commentary discussion about the issue was less than weak etc....very disappointing....they appear to not want to upset their paymasters...

whats a great and beautiful bike rider to look at....his riding is darling and exciting...the stage just explored and such great teamwork form Sunweb....great stage...this tour has given us some great moments and stories...and this was another...

great stage to watch today...a bit of a change from the tour....the climbs were great to watch...a massive struggle for every rider in the peloton....Woods and his form was so much better than i expected....his team did great work....deserved win and especially after coming back from his serious injury...

i shall be wearing my AN POST jersey tomorrow as a proud lrishman...great day for irish cycling sport...Bennett grafted to this win...over the years had his doubts etc...a great day

That was a sprint....out of no-where ...

was looking at the race this am....some tech issues to work out etc...a motorbike went the wrong direction(?) and i did see a motorbike that was down on the course and it looked like a rider as maybe involved...that bike was trying to get through the field...could have been worse...i hope all very ok..but brave of the organisers to try this ..it was welcome after the last few months...lets hope they try again... also another point...just maybe the comm teams on live camera should have been masked up etc..as they were talking to the organisers...

After yesterdays intensive rain session etc it was nice to see the sun shining this am....the local rivers can now be called rivers....some great impressive flow around here at the moment...meandering around the mtb routes and sometimes it was either mud or full on streams.....bike doesn't like all this sandy stuff...again took the hardtail out...really enjoying this bike again...

then the world might have gone into another lockdown and you wont have to worry about international travellers etc or even the cycle tour...

glad he did so in the circumstances....heard there was very difficult tech issues on the day....matt stephens and Hatch are good to listen to...but i miss Kelly.....the wisdom...

its a tough gig...but at least we can see it with this loadshedding....hurry up lads...horrible stormy western weather....electricity might go any moment...

have listened to Kirby for years up north and my opinion of him as a main commentator is that it doesn't work..he is good as a co and also does a great Paris-dakar...and those are his strengths....he was drafted into being the main comm...tends to waffle...doesn't recognise riders etc....yes Ant is dull...its a difficult job being honest... didn't hear Kirby on stage 1....have the world feed..

Kirby is horrendous...Ant Mac is very painful...his voice doesnt work..and he get all the gigs...how he does its beyond me....

Great end to todays stage...great finish...totally compelling viewing....Alaphilippe is a smart racer....its so easy to look at him and appreciate racing as an artist form....Yates...interesting rider...can he be a serious GC player ? have to wonder if there are other riders like Yates that are really unsure of their form coming into the Tour... a very intriguing day... and more tomorrow...

thats so frustrating living in ireland....you have to battle with the elements....as as irishman here my vit d levels are pretty good...and i get a good colour...

ireland has its moments of horizontal rain....
