  8. Hi guys, please have a look at the attached pic of my Edge 510 screen. Anyone have this happen to them? And if so, how do I resolve this? I tried resetting it already.
  9. Hi guys I've picked an issue this week when syncing my rides to Strava from my Edge 510. The problem only occurs when logging trainer rides. It syncs correctly, however there's no speed, Heart rate, power, distance, nothing. What I do see is an average speed of 500km/h +. The information on the Garmin is correct and is visible on Garmin Connect. I've logged trainer sessions before without this happening, anyone have a similar experience?
  10. Hi Guys I couldn't find a thread for this, so i thought i'd try. I've been looking at the Polar v650 lately and think it has potential to be better than the Garmin 510. I'd like to find out from people out there that have owned the garmin and moved to polar or that have the Polar what their opinion is on it. Is it worth it? Should i move back to Polar? Cheers,
  11. Hi Any advice on where is best to buy garmin products in PE? I am looking for speed and cadence sensor. -Paul
  12. My Garmin Edge 800 with Ant+ accessories has recently been momentarily indicating Auto Pause followed straight away by Auto Resume, for no apparent reason, when my bike has been in motion. Today it did it repetitively, to my annoyance but I then realised that it coincided with riding on a steel-reinforced concrete road. As soon as I went onto a "normal" gravel and bitumen road the problem disappeared. Could the steel in the road be interfering with the radio signal from the Ant+ speed device?
  13. Garmin Ltd. announced yesterday that it has acquired the assets of iKubu (Pty) Ltd., a privately-held designer of computer vision and radar systems for the cycling market. Click here to view the article
  14. Garmin’s relatively new Edge 1000 model has flown somewhat under the radar thanks to much of the current attention on the brand focused on their new Vector power pedals. As far as top level navigation and information devices go, users are currently spoilt for choice. Coming in at a recommended retail price of R10 599, the Edge 1000 is pricey. The question is, is it worth it? Click here to view the article
  15. Hi there Hubbers! I've recently bought myself a Garmin Edge 810 with Heart Rate Monitor ect. After doing some research I see that to determine your Max Heart rate you must use the formula 220 - minus age? So that means my Max Heart Rate is 190. I've done a few rides where I go to 195bpm, which means the calculations is incorrect on the Garmin. I went to the Garmin Connect website where you can fill in your Heart Rate Zones, but I'm not sure how accurate this is and if I put in the correct BPM at the correct zone. I want to start a new training plan with heart rate zones but can figure out which ones is correct? Does my explanation make any sense? Your help will be highly appreciated. P.S - I'm a afrikaans boytjie so sorry for the bad english!
  16. Hey Guys I want some opinions please, I am a cyclist only no other sport, and I am looking to buy either a Suunto ambit 3 peak or a Garmin 810 which ones is best bearing in mind I only cycle. Thanks in advance,
  17. Garmin today announced Vector 2 and Vector 2S, the next generation of the company’s innovative pedal-based power meters. 18. I've ridden with a Garmin on the dash since 2005 but feel it could be time to use a smartphone instead since BT4 devices are now available for heart rate and cadence. I've looked at all the likely subjects but haven't found the display screens I want, Uploading is not my worry, in ride data is. I need one screen that shows: Heart Rate as % of Max, not beats per minute Cadence Elapsed time Distance Average speed Current speed Nice to have but not essential for home screen (as upload provides): Max speed Elevation gain Altitude Lap info Courses are a bonus but not important. What smartphoe app provides these on screen in ride features? Any suggestions?
  19. To reach your fitness goals and maintain them, you need to train smarter, not harder and this can be achieved by understanding your heart. Your “maximum heart rate” is the maximum number of times your heart beats in one minute. To calculate an average reading of your max heart rate, take the number 220 for men or 226 for women and minus your age. For Example 226 – 30 = 196; a 30 year old woman’s max heart rate is 196 beats per minute. Click here to view the article

  22. So, I've now done some scientific experimentation and need some input. I ride with a Garmin Edge 810. I upload the data into strava. Now, when I load the data into Garmin connect, it shows the ride distance as 83.12Km. On Strava, the exact same ride load from the same Garmin 810 shows 81.2km. All other ride data is the same - elevation, time. How is this possible that the same dataset from can give different results for distance? I know Strava's app overestimates distance versus the Garmin, but here Strava is making the Garmin distance shorter! pics attached.
  23. Anyone tech savvy enough to explain (as simply as possible) how I can export ride data from garmin 910xt on to my Samsung phone (Note 4) and ultimately onto garmin connect I understand that most phones these days, including mine, has an ANt+ receiver built in. My question is how do I use it so I can hopefully seamlessly get data from watch onto garmin connect? I have had a read on the net but cannot find a simple understandable explanation.
  24. Garmin Southern Africa (Pty) Ltd., announce the availability of Vector S, a single-sensing system which measures the force on cyclist’s left pedal to approximate total power. Vector S has changed how power is measured and how cyclists get power because it is measured at the pedal, where force is applied. It is a direct measurement power meter that delivers reliable and accurate data. Click here to view the article
  25. Hi. Are there any edge 500 owners who have experienced this before? I get a grade reading on the display of 22% when doing 5% and 0% when I'm doing 10%. I know that its wrong due to my previous GPS readings. But the total elevation is the same as my previous recordings. This device is new, running firmware 3.30 and GPS 2.60 Any ideas will be appreciated.
