Yes, it looks like it for sure on a single image.

Just a very well though out photo actually, camera and lens placed in the centre catching the movement outside and the static on the inside .

I'm sure the forward velocity also aids in stability (marginally) due to the airflow over the wings. Possibly to allow for a more controlled landing as the window for error is so small. But that is pure speculation. :)

it is amazing that the plane can match the forward speed of the boat to allow for the "apparent" VTOL

 

British Harrier - the master at vertical take off and landing! Still some very neat flying! :thumbup:

When you think of everything that is involved here, this footage is really incredible !

Damn that was a long finals approach! Apparently the Harrier is very trick to fly in VTOL mode, there are a lot of controls, but the F35B that is replacing it is very computer-controlled and much less pilot inputs are needed to land vertically.
