I agree. As a dude with a 6yo, making the conscious choice to not have another (thank faaaark, btw) due to exponential population growth, but still wanting to have a kid.

The problem is that "good" level headed people are choosing to have none, or maybe 1 child. Right there, you and your wife (and by "you" I mean people who follow that pattern) have reduced two humans down to one. Enough "good" people who do that, and the populace of rationally thinking people keep on shrinking. On the other hand and as statet by someone else, people who can barely afford to properly feed one child - have four. Per girlfriend/wife. In one generation the levels of poverty (and lack of education ie stupidity) doubles or more. Whats going to happen in the long run?

I've always said, good people, have kids. Even if it might go tough for a few years, have kids!

guilty as charged. The reason is simple. There's too many people on the planet and by choosing not to reproduce I've made more of a positive impact than anyone could make by not eating meat.

As a species, ironically, I think we need something close to an ELE to survive.

Same as above. I'm sure you see yourself as a decent chap. There are others who aren't decent people who don't give a damn. They pop out another baby every other year because they know good people, such as yourself, will be there to pick up the tab with taxes while they score government grants.

It isn't a sustainable system.

My realizations in life:

There will always be more poor than rich people.

There will always be more stupid than smart people.

There will always be more people who don't give a damn than those who do.

And what is good people's plan to rectify/combat this? To reduce their own numbers. Insanity.

"The VW emissions scandal began in 2015 when the EPA issued a notice of violation of the Clean Air Act to Volkswagen Group, which had intentionally programmed turbocharged direct injection diesel engines to activate their emissions controls only during laboratory emissions testing, which caused the vehicles' NOx output to meet US standards during regulatory testing, but emit up to 40 times more NOx in real-world driving. Today thousands of VW & Audi models from 2009-2015 just sit in the California deserts"

An 'Auto Graveyard' containing 300,000 VW cars and planes was captured by photographer Jassen Todorov in a Californian desert. Jassen, a photographer and musician from San Francisco, says he was shocked by the view and concerned it’s a huge waste because most of them are relatively recent models.

It is strange who most people with a normal IQ see the problem and then decide to not have kids or 2 at most.

The people with lower mental capacity tends to have more and more.

The problem with this is that in the long run the average person is going to be to stupid to flip n burger.

Then we look at the families who earn one small salary with 4 kids, and a couple of bottles of brannes a week. No money for school fees or uniforms, but always money for cigs and a drink.

Dit krap my gat.

We don't have a kid. Would have loved one, but the medical world says it won't happen.

And then IVF is between 60 000 and 110 000 bucks.

Medical world insisted I won't have one either. I tried for 10 years, including seeing prof. Kruger at the Vincent Palotti Fertility Clinic. Gave up last Feb. Told the wife I am over it, and will not see another doctor about fertility as long as I live.

My daughter turned 4 months old last Sunday.

Plot Twist: Eat whatever the ****you want without feeling the need to defend/justify it - and leave everyone else to do the same.

"Leave me to buy pangolin scales and bush meat. It's my choice."

"Leave me to drive a thirsty V8. It's my choice."

"Leave me to throw my trash out the car window. It's my choice."

"Leave me to fondle kids. It's my choice."

It's so sad how liberalism has undermined the ability to assign personal accountability for so many people's choices. We're made to believe that the only authority is ourselves and that what we choose to do is good, because we made that choice based on our desires.

Choices aren't consequences free. We all share this planet. People need to understand that choices have consequences for all things - animals (incl. humans), the environment, future generations, etc.

The only authority is indeed yourself. You plot your own destiny. The choices you make are the choices YOU make. They aren't made for you. Just because you made the choice doesn't mean its good. You could choose to litter, which is bad, etc.

Your life to this very moment is a summary of all the choices you have made, mixed in with every single person you've come in contact with and who they have come in contact with, all having made their own choices.

Humanism is a progressive philosophy of life that, without theism or other supernatural beliefs, affirms our ability and responsibility to lead ethical lives of personal fulfillment that aspire to the greater good.

Anyways, that's what I base my life on. Basically, be lekker, don't be a d1ck.

Les raboteurs de parquet (The Floor Scrappers) by Caillebotte

If there was one piece of art I could choose to own, it would be this. It is my absolute favourite painting. When I went to go see it, they decided to loan it to the New York Art Gallery. I was really really bummed. So we are going again next year to have a look again.

Where is it normally?

The views from the coffee shop behind the clock are incredible ! Yes, not everyone might think so - but man I LOVE it there. The views over Paris to Sacre Coeur are like wow.

Most people I know with kids don’t want them either.

Well I don't know ... my kids are still useful. With their small hands they can clean out between the lawnmower blades and the moving parts of the cars engine.

It is a cultural difference. People who have lots of kids and with little finance do this so that their children can look after them. They don't have a retirement fund or pension. They use their money to look after their children who they think will look after them.

I am not saying it is correct but this is the logic. It is simple to understand. I have no children and I will never have any. I am doing my best to put money away for the time I retire. I also will not have to leave any inheritance so I hope to die with an exact zero balance in the bank. Difficult to plan but will give it a shot.

Build that bank balance and plan a moerse party for your end of days .... I will expect an invite.
