Ha, Ha, Boxers are just the best......those eyes.....!

My son and I got home, and heard some whimpering. Knew it was Scar as he was missing from the pack. Finally traced it round to the back garden. He had somehow got out a window onto the outside sill, and trapped himself between it and the Spanish bars.

He never ceases to amaze me, that one...

The eyes were a bit embarrassed...

Then we also have Kira, the miniature worsie. Not my favourite dog in the world, I don't even have a proper photo of her on my phone! She's naughty as hell and won't listen to me

Before these two we had pitbulls. Amazing dogs and still my favourite breed. We just decided we'd try some other breeds that are not such high maintenance. I miss them though

Hi guys,

I'm looking for some advice. It's a a bit of a story: 3 months ago, my cat came home with the top of its tail bleeding. The wound was from a trap. The vet had to amputate the tip, we want to save his lovely fluffy tail. After a week, the bandage came off and he immediately attacked his tail. This led to a new open flesh wound. We had to put a cone on for 2 months to let that heal. The week before Xmas, it looked completely healed, even some hair started growing. So we thought it time to take of his cone..... but the poor cat was absolutely terrified of its tail. He hid himself in a dark corner and once again bit it's tail open.... at this point, the vet and I decided to amputate most of the tail. This way, we could start with a new clean scar, the skin at the bottom of his tail is thicker and more difficult to reach.

Ok, so now his tail or what is left, has healed beautifully. So we!re again at the point where the cone can come off. With his cone on, he's pretty happy and relaxed. You can touch his tail bit, it doesn't seem to hurt. Only when he sees it from the corner of his eye, he wants to grab it. Now when we take the cone off, he's not as terrified anymore but the little stump scares him. He sometimes tries to bite but at least he doesn't wound himself anymore. But when he sees it, he jumps up and runs away, he's afraid of himself.

I try to comfort him as much as I can, giving him treats when I see he's afraid, lots of cuddles and attention. I've been doing this for a week now. I don't see much improvement. Is that too soon to expect? Any one tips on how to get him accept his tail bit?

After 3 frustrating months, I want my macho cat back! He's been locked inside obviously, and he wants to conquer the garden again....

Feel sorry for your little fluff ball. As for him getting used to his new look, I think it's just going to take time.

Maybe getting outside will be the distraction the kitty needs to forget about the stump. I fretted so much about Squamish when he lost his leg, but, he was straight out the car from the moment I got him home from the vet and going mad in the garden. He doesn't give his stump one moment's thought!
