The Seiko seems to be the one to go for, but after looking at a Timberland and a Superdry just now

The seiko will be around long after you have thrown those away.

Decided to stop wearing my Garmin every damn day and pull some dusty watches out the cupboard.

Relatively unknown name - Seven Friday. Nice cheapish price for automatic movement, I like that you can see the little heartbeat on the face at 7 oclock too.

Looks really cool

Stay away and get the Seiko

or look at Orient on amazon. Auto movement from an independent maker. A friend of mine lost his. Found it after a few years in the garden. Gave it a bit of a shake and movement started running. Happy with my blue mako

The Orient Brand is owned by Seiko...

So yep, your advice is still solid! Briefly had a bambino, great watch for the money!

The Mrs got herself a Garmin, and I got my TomTom back. New strap for the TomTom arrived today.

If that's a Fr35, watch out using it in water - I just took my wife's one back in for a 2nd time, both units dead from apparent failed waterproofing.

And that's just from day to day showering, and a few casual pool swims...

Keep your receipt.

Yip it's the Fr35. I'll tell my wife that, as it's her Garmin, and I'll tell her to keep the receipt.

I've got the 3050 series

Great watch.

Rubber strap failed without any warning when used as a dress watch.  This should not have happened.  They replaced FOC, but I see they changed the design to something more rugged.

I also have a luminox 3050 colormark (green) - great watch, rugged but nice enough to wear in a formal environment. Also had a strap fail but bought a new one and got on with life. One of the things I do like is that there glow in the dark works !! its one of the better systems. All in all great watch and I think very good value.
