Thanks i dont want to be running at the back of the pack and use my tyres as an excuse

try the Specialized Fast Trak - Control or the Ground Control.

was running the Renegade on the front (S-works) and Rear (control). Couldn't fault them. have recently switched to the Fast Trak (Control) front and rear for the wetter summer conditions. Happy so far.

Hi Guys!

New to this mountain biking story. Bought a 650B, got 4 punctures on the last ride (Bad luck mixed with a soft tyre). What is a durable MTB tyre that is strong side walls and withstands thorns (To a certain degree). Also price?

Thanks

Maxxis Crossmarks

Geax Segaros

Conti X-king Protection

These are your best bet, Maxxis being the cheapest and Conti most expensive.

Are you running tubeless?

Not sure how available these tyres are in a 650B, speak to your local bike store

You shouldn't' be getting punctures with tubeless- cuts maybe, but not punctures. If you're not running tubeless- do it NOW

And like BigD mentioned the Cross marks are good and affordable.

Want to get a new tyre (UST) but the conti's are a bit expensive these days. Got a mt-king 2.2,currently in front, wanted the same in the back. Any other brand of similar type spec but a bit cheaper??

Hands off, best tyres are the specialized range"..............

Fast trak - dry conditions 2 bliss ready

Butcher- really good xc training tires/ dh ready tubeless

Renegade - good in wet conditions xc race 2bliss

I would recommended these, but schwables ..... Racing Ralph and rocket Ron , snakeskin models compare neck to neck with the s-works fast trak and renegade in weight and rolling resistance.

We'll there is a lot of threads so need try the them all, but to scared to have a faulty tyre in a race |:

So pm any really good race tires ?

2.0 is the best. The Fast Trak is Under Measured, so they are probably the same width as a competitors 2.1 or 2.2 in some cases. This is due to the different measuring techniques from different brands.

The Specialized tyres average around R450 each for the Tubeless ready. They are lighter and cheaper than almost anything out there. Fast Trak for Hard Pack, and Ground Control if you need a bit more traction.

if thrown the option of picking up the following (on a 26er):

- Maxxis Ignitor xc (2.1)

- Race King (either 2.0 or 2.2)

- Mountain King (2.2 or 2.4)

What would the brains trust pick up for std trail and CT style riding?

Coming off Nevegal and Wild Rac'rs...

Edit: 2.1 Nev's on the front with the 2.0 Wild bringing up the rear.
