It's going to be a balmy 2C at the start and warming up to 7C.... I use the term "warming up" very loosely here.

It's now 8 degrees at 13:20 in the Vaal. We had a good rain shower. Tomorrow is going to be very cold and muddy!

2 degrees outside and I'm in the car at the venue having second thoughts about riding the 40km at 9h30 . wind is a killer and with no sun to warm us up. Many people turned around and went home.

The weather at the serengeti race 3 weeks ago was cold, but it doesn't come close to this.

i am still in bed. I'll have to get the number board back to them some day.

 

Might hit the spruit this afternoon if it has warmed up or, more likely, do last 100 km of the tour on the trainer in front of the TV

Thinking of all participants - low temps and the Wind Chill factor today are going to make this a memorable one.

Was freeZing at the start but after the climb the body was warm. Distance was not 60 but rather 50. Overall, not bad but not outstanding.

It was cold at start but the tough part was the wind. In the end it was well worth the chill and feeling good now after a day in the sadlle. Daugher (15) rode a stunner.

The wind howled like mad, in what seemed like a continuous head wind.

Missed wattle alley climb (or should I say the descent), and was happy with that.

 

Winner's time was 1:56...
