Allow me to start something here.

Why would you pay thousands for a bike and then pay more for the shirt and shorts that match only to advertise on behalf of the brand that you ride.

A bit silly if you ask me.

This should be moved to the newbie give away thread. This is a sure way to obtain new levels of Newbieness.

well never mind what you wear you will still be advertising even if only "made in china".i sort of look for the clothes that works for me and then shop for the best price and presto.

I tell you what I don't understand. Example: CWC sell their kit for cyclists to wear. Why in the world would anybody buy kit from a company? If I wore cycling clothes with company logos on it that company needs to pay me for their marketing. Give me a salary, a bike or something and I will wear your company logo on my kit otherwise why the hell would you buy it? Bikes cars etc I understand but clothes?? U must be nuts!!

The branded clothing matches the bike. No clash of colours etc.

My latest bike is black, much easier. The Tygerberg mtb kit is orange and white so does not go well with a maroon and red bike.

Seriuosly though, I just like the Specialized tops. They are good quality and fit me nicely unlike some of the other Italian brands which only make shirts for flat chested girls.

S'pose for some it's like wearing your favorite foot ball team's top or a bok top.

Doesn't really bother me, although wearing replica world champ/national kit is a level of sever douchness for sure!

If you like the brand then show your support; its simple really.

As HandH said, brand loyalty is a funny thing, but what seems even funnier to me is people being more conscious of what they are wearing and what others think than of loyalty to something they appreciate.

Personally Im not afraid to show my support, and you may or may not have noticed my Ghost bib short pant on Sunday.

This kit looks like it was designed by kid with a crayon, Worst I've seen.

So if you wear a pair of Levis are you going to "demand a salary" ?

Go one further and start taping the name up on your bike. Why advertise their name if you ride every race in it...

All silly things said......you BUY is because you LIKE it. Don't like it, don't buy it. Simple economics really.

That said, a lot of guys must then LIKE some of the brands that they wear.

Just a thought....
