Regular headaches after training

So I've been noticing this for a while. After a hard session in the saddle, I get these insane (like migrane) headaches. What is weird, is that it takes about two or more hours for the pain to start. I don't feel strange on the bike, I get off and start to relax and then after some time, I can feel it sneak up on me. Sometimes I manage to stop it in time by taking a couple of Panado's or whatever, but other times, like last night, I wake up with this throbbing pain that feels like my scull shrunk about two sizes.

I also train in the gym and run sometimes, but haven't had these headaches from either, even after quite intense workouts.

I initially thought that it might be the supplements, but I've had these with 32Gi, Cytomax and regular water.

Any thoughts

I also get headaches a few hours after a ride but not as bad as what you experience.

I believe mine is from the jolting from rough terrain or/and strain on my neck.

Im hoping a bit of training can sort out my issues.

Get yourself checked out. Could be fatigue related. Make sure you are getting enough sleep. also, plan your training properly, by building up your fitness over a period of time and not jumping into really hard sessions for which you are not adequately conditioned for. puts a lot of strain on your system.

edit: as said above, dehydration could also be a factor. you should be taking in at least 750ml per hour, (more if its really hot)

I often suffered 'silent' migranes in the past where my left eye would black out totally for 10-20 mins and then slowly recover. This was especially whilst a student and doing long projects late at night, days on end. Nowadays, enough sleep = problem solved, (after scans and med checks revealed nothing wrong.)

Part dehydration, part neck, back and shoulder strain.

I used to get these same headaches but with more training they eventually subside.

Or gym to improve upper back/neck strength should help.

And drink loads of water while riding and a good electrolyte replacement immediately after.

what is your liquid intake during the ride. It could be caused from Dehydration

I was about to ask how much water do you drink.

I used to get those after long rides, or hard rides over 2 hours. Went away after a while. I assumed it was dehydration or something related.

I also use to get these headaches a few hours after a hard / long session, exactly like you've described..

Changed my "mix" to 32Gi, and since then it does not happen anymore. I used to make sure I hydrated properly whilst on the bike, and immediately after I finished. Did not matter how fit I was, the headaches happened. Since I've been using the 32Gi, I'm good.

Suspect it might have had something to do with a drop in Blood Sugar (I had my Sugar Levels tested, was fine)

Have a look at what you use to Hydrate with, problem might be there.

My nutrition and hydration are good during and after a ride.

I used to get them and they went away after riding for a while,

stopped ridding for a year and now that im getting back on im getting them again.

Think i need to ride smoother lines

Same here, but mine due to low bloodsugar. As long as I eat soon after a tough long ride, I'm fine. If I forget, it's halo time and vision blurred...too late then. The other long shot may be your glasses...eyestrain which will cause the headaches.

I get em too and they can last the whole day, even with medication.

I used to get them everyday (even when not riding) and after some searching and specialists etc I discovered it had to do with my neck muscles among others; so now when I get it riding I'm pretty sure its because of the bend in my neck for long periods.

Ek het diesefde simptome gehad. Neem net meer vloeistof in. Jy sweet baie meer as wat jy dink, veral as jy hard oefen.

I used to get them as well. I drink 1 Rehydrate before the event, make sure I take enough liquid during the race and after another 1 or 2 Hydrate depends on the race and temp.
