Neil doesn't have long hair,so how did he get drawn into this?

Dunno, also saw this huge leap in (whatever), which just proofs once again: : Logic & (self righteous) hubbers never mix well!

Its like this...

There are quite afew reports on the hub about NC not being...lekker.

As a cyclist, i use the hub for information on the cycling industry.

I read More negative reports from various people than positive ones regarding this particular business (Northcliff cycles)

I have no allegance towards any one cycling shop...so when i am looking for a new bike, or some spares etc, i base my list of companies to contact on my overall impression of that store.

Reports like this, mean the NC are never on that list.

As a business owner...i think NC need to take the hub and its members VERY seriously...

Incidents like this (assuming the OP is being factual and not emotional) can be VERY damaging to a business.

Liam De Roche should have a strong word with Alex.

(this is all assuming that IQ of 2 is being factual and not emotional - i mean no disrespect to him, but we all know there are many sides to a story.)

I disregard most + or - stories on the hub. too much emotion, and too many axes to grind. I'll do my own scouting

To the long haired guy leading the Northcliff Cycles group road ride in the cradle this morning, you are an unadulterated Tjop. In the Kingdowm of Tjopdom you rank a 12 out of 10.

When your club car riding behind you point blank refuses to move over and give a bit of space to allow me to overtake you all a bit further away (and safer) even though you are climbing at all of 15 kmh, and I eventually manage to overtake, you take it upon yourslef to be the hero and you move over to the right as close to the centre of the road and the white line as you can possibly get to deliberately obstruct me. So i am now behind your bunch of cyclists (now between you and the car) and I have to sit behind you whilst your group, 3 to 4 abreast across the whole road under your command, rides up the hill. BTW - you guys arent TdF material - my speedo didnt even register the speed you guys were climbing.

And to add insult to injury when the guy at the back shouts to you to move over because there is a car, you turn around and do exactly the opposite. I think you even told him what to do with himself.

Eventually i got past when you all slowed down to about 12 kmh up the next hill, but I had to overtake on a solid white line or sit in your bunch of cyclists all thinking they were bullet proof.

For you I have some advice:

1.) In the eternal war between cars and bikes, bikes have yet to win. Carbon Fibre does not provide much protection against steel, and the weights and physics are against you my friend. Undertsand that mate and you may be a little less casual about obstucting cars nest time. ABS will not be enough to save you.

2.) Even as a cyclist, when you are behind a bunch of arrogant twats like you and faced with your attitudes towards me as asnother road user in the cradle, the desire to drive straight over you can alsmost become irrepressible as you made it clear that that you didnt give a continetal about anybody else, and further you obstruct them deliberately. Turning you in to a bonnet ornament was something that played across my mind, . Read 1.) above and see what the result may have been.

3.) Havent you heard of the fact that there are other road users and unless you are paying a special tax to use the whole of the road rather than the cycle lane specially assigned to you, maybe you should think twice, next time you decide to exercise your right to ride a bicycle like a moron. You may find the guy overtaking is not as interested in you and your riders safety (who you are clearly leading and setting a fine example).

4.) And great advertising for Northcliff Cycles guys - your club attitude needs to be looked at if that's what you do with a group ride

Oh and BTW it gets better - you were doing laps (the Northcliff Cycles Criterium it looked like) so you guys passed me later going the opposite way on the second lap and there you all were, all doing the same thing again. Not a continental care and a bakkie with a farmer in behind you, hooting.

I wonder how many people you pissed off in the cradle today and how many people were saying what a bunch of twats you were. And other cyclists will get a bad attitude from them and zero tolernace because of your attitude.

Northcliff Cycles - If you were the only bike shop in town, i would rather ride 500km with an empty Camelbak to the next town than use you guys if thats the example you guys are happy your club leaders set.

Havent you guys heard about the incidents in the Cradle over the last months and last week? Wow - just amazes me how stupidity and arrogance combine. Maybe this is where Darwin was right - natural selection will remove you guys from the gene pool sooner rather than later.

I dunno - I think you might be overstating the 2.

I believe Alex is the owner of the shop.

I also think that the hub is a very small minority in the cycling community, and we're not as special as we think we are. In, fact the hub seems to be more of a joke in the cycling community than anything to be taken seriously, so we can jump up and down and make idle threats, but no one really cares.

The reason all the "serious competitors" abandoned this place over time!

I have family who stays in the Cradle and have to use the roads there often.Cyclists do not behave there and they regularly hold up traffic. I think IQ is not very wrong and I find it reprehensible that HeMan or Ox or whatever his name is tries to make the OP out to be a liar. Alex should know how to behave and apologise on this forum.

And quite a few good reports 2. They are on the opposite side of Jozi for me yet I am prepared to mission there anything I need something over the counter, or just to browse. Much prefer them to any other jshop in town.

Hendrik, please indicate where I make out the OP as a liar.

Hi

Whatever the shops might think of the hub, I've also heard the comments in the shape of a joke, it is a voice of cyclist, even if of a minority, and could be wise not to just disregard it.

Hi

even if the OP embellished a bit (and I'm not hinting or suggesting he did) there must still be some degree of truth and I'd think the shop owner should pay attention,

whatever the degree of truth, how small, not person associated with a club, or shop should act like this. As a fellow cyclist, ye at times in a quiet street we might ride 2 abreast, but if there comes a car, be consider, make plans and get into single file, let the car past, to do anything other than this amounts to being a road hog, I'm thinking the Long hair must be glad it was a fellow cyclist, if this was a taxi the tread might have been a very different subject.

G

True G, but hubbers have been quite successful to marginalise the hub as a 'voice'/platform for cyclists.

The nett effect is that legitimate complaints are treated as just the whinings of a bunch of of internet trolls/kids, who do little for cycling other than standing on the sidelines and shouting abuse..

Some might not agree, but that is the perception out there...

Hmm...i am not a "serious competitor", just a guy who likes to ride bicycles with my friends and family.

I put a lot of faith in what the hub members say.

I suppose, ALEX being a businessman can appreciate the fact that regardless of my "status" as a cyclist....i have the right to vote with my wallet...

And i have...no threats here...just consumerism.
