Some interesting bikes coming out lately.

Pole Machine
There is a new Pole coming and it will redefine how a frame is manufactured, the frame will be robotically CNC machined. ... The new frame will be called Machine and will be 100% made in Finland.

The Machine is a cutting edge 29" superbike which can be used as the one bike for everything. The travel on the bike is 180mm front and 160mm rear. The frame geometry follows Pole's notoriously long and slack geometry with steep seat tube for better climbing.

I like this idea but I am still not completely sold on this big wheel long travel thing. Big wheels and fat strong tyres weigh a stack.

Anyone found any decent close ups of the frame. I am trying to work out how it will be made. Are they going to machine the main frame parts in halves and weld them together down the middle?

Agreed on the wheels. I still prefer my 26er. By passed a 29er and have a 27.5 HT. The rims weigh less than the 26 rims, but overall rotational mass is less on the 26. I am way faster on the 26 than the 27.5

Wheel size aside, It's flipping incredible to be able to sculpt an aluminium bike with these sort of curves and lines. Carbon bikes have desensitised us to what is and what isn't possible with aluminium.

From a steel manufacturer standpoint, I cringe when welds get machined down for aesthetics, but in this case I think I'm in love.

*PS: It wasn't too long ago when carbon bikes were straight tubes with connecting lugs, and now look.

This is possibly a huge leap in bike fabrication.

"he front and the rear triangles are made of three parts that are bonded together with glue, similar methods are being used in car and airplane industries."

I saw that later in the comments on PB. Shows how hard I read the article.
