Mmmmm.... Maybe I should try that. I'm not keen on the effects I get from carbs. I don't have time for headaches and mood swings : ) I wouldn't mind a nice gourmet burger and chips : () Not sure I should release the beast.

Headaches, mood swings, dizziness.... Sodium. 2g per day.

Hi guys

Need some advice : ) I have been banting strictly for around 10 weeks now. I have lost 9 kg with +- another 10Kg to lose. I have hit a brick wall. I lose a kg then gain a kg. This has been happening for the past 3 weeks... I'm not getting in any hidden carbs and I don't cheat. I probably get in slightly too much protein but that's a wild guess. I have been in ketosis for the last 8 weeks.

Should I just be patient ? It's tough to get such great results and then things just grind to a halt out of no where.

check your protein amounts.  Try aim for 1g per 1kg of body mass for weight loss.  Around 1.5g / kg for maintaining , building muscle.

If your lean body mass is 80kg's that's only 80 grams of protein a day - very easy to over do it...

And remember, when working out your body mass, it isn't how much you weigh - it's you lean body mass i.e. muscle mass.  (So pretty much your goal weight).  If you weigh a 100kg's but want to weigh 80kg's , use 80kgs as the figure.  Often overlooked!

Two questions for you guys.

What happened to htone? He had job issues and then went quiet. Anyone know if he is ok ?

Second, many have mentioned one needs to find ones own way. I have cut out alot of sugar - but am a sucker for a good rusk or biscuit. Ok maybe half a slice of carrot cake if the wife is in the mood. Otherwise try to avoid most carbs, especially refined.

BUT - if I dont take a replacement drink after a training ride I find I struggle. I dont like the idea of all those carbs and stuff in those drinks, but it seems to work. What would you guys suggest as alternatives ?

I take my BPC after my training ride, as I like to ride fasting with water.

This helps me quite a bit, as I am not in the mood for any food/sugary drinks after a ride.

For me, I just go to the baking isle in the supermarket and buy the big packet of cocoa powder people use for baking. Cheapest source by far. Pure cocoa too - no fancy added ingredients.

thanks tombeej, I will give it a go.

the other thing is, I'm very constipated. Will this normalise as well over time?

For me, main thing is to have enough salt and water (stay hydrated).  If you still battling, get some psyllum husk from Dischem - stuff works a charm.  Hard to calibrate how much is enough.  Not very much seems fine...

made some fat bombs for the first time the other day.

3/4 cup coconut oil

2 heaped tablespoons butter

1 teaspoon coco powder

1/2 teaspoon xylitol

1 tablespoon dessicated coconut

salt

just melted the butter and coconut oil in microwave and stirred in the other ingredients and refrigerated.

very nice but will leave out the salt next time and maybe even the xylitol. will also add cream next time as an experiment.

oh yes was also thinking of adding some coffee next time for some extra flavour. not sure if I should use instant coffee for this?

you can also smash up some almonds and add that to the mix!

I see Nature's choice macademia nut butter is on special at Dischem.

R73.95 for 410gr jar, was a month or so ago close to R100
