Lets hold a fundraiser for a UCI Bribe on behalf of MTB baaisaaiklist.

Judging by the number of members on line if We all chipin R100 we can pay the fine 3 x over and then maybe he can get a rubber arm band made in his honour.

I'm thinking green bands in support of legalising cannibis for religious reasons in MTB races. I need to find my karma with some herbal help

The only thing I get from this whole case is that they're trying to make an example of him. From the start he was immediately fed to the dogs with the article. Now they've gone the international route. Crisis, are they so crap that they couldn't sort this out in a discrete manner. No! Someone needs to be an example for everyone else, who cares if it even helped at all?? This makes me negative and I feel let down by CSA as they cannot resolve their own issues and are feeding him to the big dogs to sort him out!

Well the letter stated that if I refuse to consent to the Acceptance of Sanction, then the UCI will ask CSA to initiate disciplinary proceedings against me.

I've said I'm okay with that.

Not out of arrogance, but I just feel as though that fine is unreasonable, and I'd rather see what CSA have to say about it.

Personally.... if you are accurate in when you took what you took, I would start asking for evidence that there is a documented performance benefit after the elapsed time since you took it - I have not seen any evidence that there is a benefit after such a long time. Especially if you dropped significant amounts of weight.

In any case - UCI are a bunch of ..... I have a similar letter for a 500CHF fine because the whole group was riding on the wrong side of the road (well some people were anyway - not me) and they fined the whole start group. In the end it sort of went away, and I don't believe anybody paid it.

What race was that at?

What an absolute waste of time and effort on the part of the authorities. Mountain (not biking) and molehill are two words that spring to mind. The naming and shaming was more than enough of a penalty and sanction in my view. They started something and now they have to finish it to save face.

Long time ago... might have been a ride for sight, or maybe the carnival city ride - I remember the race ref shouting and yelling on the road at the group rather better than which race it was.

I think it's awesome that they see you as a real podium contender and a real big threat.

I reckon they are doing well sorting the likes of you out, in actual fact, it's a real damn pity we don't have the death sentence anymore .

So I've been waiting for news of my fate over my doping charges for a while now.

Saw Swiss Van asking in another thread what's come of the whole thing. I figured because I posted about it on this open forum that I'd keep you up to date. If only for interest sake.

Received an email from the UCI today offering me an 'Acceptance of Sanction'

I have no problem with this Sanction, in which I'll be serving a 2 year ban. I said I'll take responsibility for my actions. What I do have a problem with is paying a 2500 Swiss Franc fine along with this signed Acceptance of Sanction. That translates to a little over R26 000. Not a chance...!

I thought there's probably very little chance any of you will ever get to see what any of these letters look like, so I've decided to attach them for you to read yourselves.

The explanation I sent to the UCI and CSA was very similar to what I posted here, albeit slightly edited to make it easier for the UCI to read. My original admission of guilt here had quite a bit of slang and South African lingo in it, so I just omitted some of that.

I think Admin should impose a fine for stupidity. If found guilty they should cough up and be suspended

Is he going to fine himself or his outsourcer first? :)

Fair point. But look at that list that TW posted, no one got fines, why should he then?

This is not a fine. It is for the costs of the admin around the test.
