What does your bike / wheels / frame weigh and cost

Recommended Posts

Hey Family

Thought it might be fun to post pic of your bike with actual weight of bike from scale and then what you paid

So we can get a R / kg ratio which might be quite interesting

Lets try as much as possible to do bikes without pedals and always add the weight

Happy for this to be open to all bikes, all brands and even just frames

Keen to see what is out there and then compare apples with apples

So lets get cracking...can even do wheels too if you like

But the pedals were one of my cleverest upgrades to save weight, please include pedals for the weight of a complete bike. And pedals are an important part of the bike they don`t pedal well without pedals.

And MTB or Road? Should specify this cause I might accidentally personally attack a roadie and get suspended again.

About 15kg

Total cost to build - about 16,500. Including all parts at full cost of upgrade.

If I remove the amount saved from selling the upgraded kit or kit i brought across from my itger bike it comes to approx 4k.

Will weigh tonight for an accurate number.

Edit:I sold my road bike to fund my DH bike and sold that to partly fund this. My wheels cane from my hardtail and I sold my precious fork to upgrade to the lyrik.

Hardtail is in bits but still a whole bike. The road bike was a gift.

Scott scale elite 29er

Bought 2nd hand on the hub for R8500

Weight: 11.5kg

R739/kg

Is it good or bad to have a low R/kg?

A makro "MTB" will have a super low R/kg, but it's rubbish. But paying R20k per kg can't be a good thing????

Yup, the Gambler aint no Kate Moss...

In the interest of DH bikes, I'll post some details of mine (mostly cos it's the only one of my bikes I've ever weighed  , haha)

Morewood Makulu (Large custom built frame)

Last weighed in at 17.1kg

(that was with light tyres. Now running heavy...BUT it has had some upgrades since, like Ti spring, Hope integrated stem etc).

Retail... approx 60k Therefore approx R3530/kg.

Hard to tell if that's good/bad value for money
