I vote we stop bickering on this thread and save our comments for wishing Koos a speedy recovery.

 

I do not know him and I know very little about him, but I think sending out positive messages for his recovery is a better option than fighting among ourselves about what should be done with the lady who hit him. For those of you that do know him, let us know if when he recovers you recon he'd prefer to read the cr~p that's coming out here or the well wishes that this thread started out with.

 

I know which I'd prefer.

I think we're all pissed at what happened to Koos, especially the woman driver's attitude and the way she handled the situation. It's good to blow off some steam and everyone has a different way of expressing themselves, besides, it also shows how much we care for our fellow cyclists.

 

We all want the roads to be safe for ALL and people to be considered to ALL road users. A cyclist stands absolutely no chance against any vehicle and people in vehicles just don't care and often don't realize what a dangerous "weapon" it is.

Quick update! I managed to trace the lady,she has met Koos's wife and a case has been opened and she openly admits to going through a red robot..... Koos is doing better this afternoon so is going into theatre to clean up a infection in a wound that is putting strain on his kidneys! Things are looking better! I am really glad the driver has admitted and spoken to Theresa, she does sound sorry. Now we must support Koos and family..... This has taken a lot out of them.....

wow i hope your wife never skips a robot,,,you must be part of the hub who never ever does anything wrong,,the hub is so BLESSED to have so many angels,,,,everyone has had a "blonde"moment of split second mistakes that they sit back and go DAM WHAT WAS I THINKING, everyone must get off there high horses,,sometimes mistakes cause serious consequence and its sad when it happens, do you know how many hubbers i have had 2 beers with after a ride, who are the first to want to hang a driver for being "drunk" after there is a accident, (when they are also drinking and driving)

i wonder if you going to want some serb to come track your wife down if she skips that robot????

Ok Guys,update. The Doctors are not going to opperate and pin his leg today, all though he is showing small signs of improvement,they feel his body is not stable enough to cope with the op. He is still ventilated but stable,all vitals are good and the bleeding has stopped. He did wake up last night and tried to pull out pipes, so that's also a good sign...... I have managed to trace the driver, she has not reported it to SAPS yet.... And on the system, the reg does not match the vehicle......... Very fishy!!! I have a few friends investigating..... Theresa asked me to thank each and every person for their support,she never realized how many people know Koos! I may need to ask for help regarding what to do if this turns out to be a "dodgy" case....

 

Are you kidding me?? Sounds like this lady thinks it was "just a little bump" ...that broke a man and his bike in half!!

AT no stage did i say driving off is fine, i am and saying the early chirps of sending serbs,and basically doing every thing to " HUB GUILTY "parties is getting tired, all i am saying around here people are constantly jumping the gun on how matters must be handled as if THEY ALL PERFECT SOULS AND NEVER MAKE MISTAKES

The question begs...if this already seems a bit of a dodgy scenario....did this lady actually have a valid drivers licence??

These factors may well be why she only left a number and drove off...my money is on a total denial and/ or number that does not even exist!!

99% of people who drive off, are illegal, no licence,drunk drivers the other day we had one of our vans in a accident and the insurer said to me not to worry about giving the rest of the details because it was a zimbo, by the time i gave the PASSPORT NUMBER it was as if they couldnt care

Please know that you are in my thoughts. Many months ago I was hit by a car which had skipped a red light. Someone was watching over me that day or it was just "my lucky day". My hope for you is that you make a full recovery and are back on your bike in next to no time. My hope for the driver is that she accounts for her actions in a court of law.
