What an awesome race!

I k@*4d off seriously but this was a serious wakeup call! Need to work on my technical skills! My front brake packed up after the concrete strip decent which made the rest of the decents a bit scary.

Jou Bliksem didn't disappoint. Saved my matches as Rouxtjie suggested but obviously didn't keep enough. Was so tired at the top that I BLIKSEMed off twice within 10m. Second fall broke my KeepMySenseOffHumor thingy and I thought off 10 other possible names they could have given Jou Bliksem.

Think the seeding was great. Loved riding in C batch. At one stage thought I was on the wrong route because saw no one in front of me. Felt sorry for the later batches because of the heat. I measured 35deg on the climb to the Greek Church.

Told myself that I will never again ride the long route at VG but thinking back now, I have a score to settle. I rate this as one of my top 3 most difficult races this year. Sabie was difficult but at least everything was ridable. Some of these accents were just one to much for me.

Ja maar dis soos daai kids op skool "aggenee hel ekt nie geleer vd toets nie" en na die tyd "oh hel dit was soooo moeilik" en dan "ag ekt net 92% gekry" ......

I had a good ride but was rather disappointed at all badly injured and dehydrated participants in the parking lot spectator areas and medical tents . I must have seen at least a dozen people with collar bone fractures . This level or race should be designed for a manageable challenge not to see so many of the competitors off for surgery .

What crap, sorry dude but this is absolute BS

1. HTFU

2. If you cant ride it, walk it

3. make sure you carry enough hydration for yourself and fill up at the stops if need be

4. Get some technicals skills or go ride a skinny wheeled bike on the tar

Dont even think of dumbing down a great route because some people cant ride it.

I thought it was perfectly managable, I loved every second of my 69,8km it was a proper mountain bike race, not a dirt road race

I think after the beers on Sat and Sunday I am very prepped for towers....... At least riding and racing towers is more like Red apples vs green apples......... a lot closer than pears...... and the beers are cheaper although only R15 at VG on Sat was a good price compared to a lot of places

(Then you should have been at the Rooiberg MTN XCO race...)

Like many others on here say, you don't break bones by riding a hard or technical course. You break bones by over-estimating your levels of technical ability, fitness and MTB experience (and most of all, by trying to show-off). I think this is a brilliant race and for a change, real MTB stuff...

Good grief man.

What is happening in this sport, has it become full of posers and tantrum throwers.

Too many attention whores and wannabe pro's as well.

Did mommy and daddy neglect their kids so much that they need validation as adults ?

Come on people , it's called Mountain Biking not Brokeback Mountaineering.

ok sean we get it you got skills, some of us are still in the early phases of mountain biking so what seems to be easy for you is rather difficult for newbies, and to THE COWBOY LOOKS LIKE YOU THE ONE THROWING YOUR TOYS OUT THE COT
