Can't really argue this, tis true, vg is open(well at least 70% of the trail) year round, you can go and practise these descents and climbs but when you go to vg over the weekend there are only 20 cars max in the park, go to NF and there are at least a 100.

Thats because sand road is easier to ride on than rocks and less chance of breaking a sweat

VG and The Monster are my favourites, dont dumb them down

OK, here is my take.

And again it's my popularity seeking post of the day.

(Hopefully it will garner me many friends)

I am GATVOL of :

These people who "win their group" in a race.

For heaven sakes Mr. Ego, if you are not first ,second or third OVERALL, nobody give a crock of poo about your group finish.

Every second twit is a fast, strong, lean mean machine nowadays.

I see the tweets all week and weekend long, "Hey Appeltjie, go and hurt them" "Go and give out some punishment" and all the other hardcore let me stroke your ego for you rubbish.

Delusions of grandeur is what it is.

There ar so many events that a regular 250th. position finisher can now end up in the top 30.

The problems appear when nonsense like this happens here.

Complaints and moaning and groaning simply because things didn't go their way.

I will finish off my highly loved post with this.

The great equalizer is The Attakwas.

If you think you are good, strong and want top go out and stick it to the man.

Do this event, 120 km's of proper hard riding with a mix of absolutely everything under the sun.

The great equalizer.

Yes the man is a legend, changing anything ito the race will make it worse imo...

While waiting for the GF to arrive at he epic sports water table so i could fix her brakes i twice met Eric out on the route. So much planning and sorting goes on behind the scenes. He was running around like a mad man trying to sort every little problem out. Real legend. Only when you hang around for a few hours on the route do you find out what really happens. Oh and huge big up to those back markers. Man you guys know how to suffer hard, but still have time to chat and smile

hahaha, this one, came around the corner not concentrating, missed the corner into a root web and hole, it is amazing how quickly one can un-clip when the chips are down, landed where I took the pic, a pity there was no-one with me to enjoy it.

I agree.... its the only way I have improved my technical abilities (and they are not top notch but I do try...) so its def worth planning the trip out there... and I try get there once a month at least. Its the BEST feeling to ride stuff that I could not even attempt last year and that was the cherry on my cake.. .. coping with the tech descents. (now I just need to work on the climbing) Practice is the only way to improve!! And if you cant... WALK. Simple.

Unfortunately I cant reply to this

haha, "all the hubs hard men can reply to this"

Luckily the hub doesn't get me hard.

Be good if that Satellite descent was open for practice & pleasure outside of events.

Whilst fixing punctures at that stream just after you come down, I noticed some groves worn in the rocks next to the river, almost like stripes. Figured it might have been used a place to sharpen metal-age spears? it was just by the first rocky bit you ride over towards the bridge.

Yoh.... too funny... you guys should pretend that you aren't hubbers and then log in and read this thread with a fresh pair of eyes.... Flaming each other over your opinions.

Yes its a hard race, yes I k@kked off too..... and yes everyone's experience would have been a little different depending on tech skill levels, equipment and fitness.

Now go and remove your soiled diapers and act the age that your employers think you are :nuke:
