i find that price ok, i know its a little steep but as all have stated its a Sunday and it did save your race. me i would have lost a link and used an existing chain pin to macguyver a plan if the price was too high. but i am not a competitive oke and just the ride was enough for me!

but on the note of being ripped off, did anyone see or have the misfortune of trying to buy a worse roll from vuyos van thing in the hospitality area?R40 for a single 15 cm worse roll and R10 for additions like onions etc.now thats ripping the ring out of it and taking advantage of people at an event if ever i have seen it.

On Sunday 17 November 2013 I road the 94.7 cycle challenge. My chain broke and I required a new chain pin. All my links were still intact, but main chain pin went missing. I stopped at the service station on Bompas where Kyalami pro cycles had a stand. They charged me R40 for a chain pin. I had to take two in case it broke again so I paid R80 for two chain pins. I put the pin in myself. The woman that was working there was running around collecting money. It felt like they were there to make money and not help the cyclists. I am great full for their assistance but think that on big events like this one the organizers should select the assisting stands more carefully.

I wonder what you would charge your employer/client to be somewhere on a Sunday from 5h30 to 17h00?

Given that they have to pay their staff double time for the day, physical setup costs plus rental for the station, they probably don't make any money for the day. More of a PR/marketing exercise.

And it's not like that wors is the best there is. That's a bit of a blow. Which would make that a fair complaint.

The Fish hoek butchery sells boerie rolls for 15 bucks during the Argus using better wors AND condiments like onions and sauces are free. Can't speak for the stands at the start and the finish though.

Can you pre order the rolls and they throw them at you as you come past, I would love that!!

I said this morning how thankful I was that I packed a cooler box with cokes, water and sandwiches!

At any event you always get ripped off for food and drink, thats just how it goes!

20 bucks for a big can of ice cold beer .... bargain I thought

Glad I spent all my food money on beer

From the sound of things that was the right choice!

this thread is kind of like complaining about spending R20 for a wors roll at the end cos you can get it cheaper if you buy it from checkers. WTF

I hope the OP has not bred yet

I was exploited at the 94.7 registration where i paid R14 for a 330ml can of coke. I could have gone to the Northgate PnP where i could have bought a 500ml for far less.

Damn organizers making a killing out of hungry and thirsty customers. :w00t:
