They are nice and quick for jeeptrack and the like... in muddy conditions they offer no purchase though

ah come on, that doesn't make it a bad tyre that just makes it the wrong tyre for some conditions!

It's not the fault of the tyre if you use them in the wrong application. I use Mountain King up front and Race King at the back and they suit my environment perfectly.

+1 on this combination.

as for mud shedding capabilities, you get used to it

must be the camelpak, i never use. got it with my first bike, after 5 rides realized water-bottle is the way to go.

Yeah, my preference as well. It's nice not to have to reach down for the bottle, but I don't like the camelbak on my back and it's less trouble keeping the bottles clean. I might use it again for longer rides as my bike only has space for 1 bottle.

I'm propbably gonna step on a few toes here...so apologies in advance...

Mine, for sure, was this green and black Team Sky Pro Cycling WWF Tour de France super dooper cycling shirt. That was when I just started out on the road bike and did my first few races. That shirt was the most beautiful thing for me and I forked out a whole R800 for it...only to wear it um, perhaps twice? It didn't take too long to realise exactly how pretentious and ridiculous I looked in that proteam kit and from then on I was a Bruces man...

(The shirt joined the Rosmary Hill -Van Gaalens - Groenies - Karootracks stash...I figured that apparel sponsored in part by the WWF, should not be seen on tar after all... :P )

Hmmm more like the worst decision I made to buy something

A pair of Sidi MTB shoes from CRC online. After sizing some other Sidi shoes in the local shops ordered the size I wanted from CRC (not available locally hence the need to order from CRC).

When they arrived they were way to big and had no tongue (Triathlon style) which I was not keen on.

Sold them to another hubber...bigfoot :whistling:

I think I can add my old spinning bike to the list. Just too boring and ended up as a clothing rack before I sold it. Now I have a set of rollers for indoor training (a good purchase). They don't make a very good clothing rack though :P

Worst road tyres EVER. Think they're made of candy floss and straw. Goedkoop koop is duur koop.

Heavy, badly made and generally just crap. In my defence, I had just started cycling and knew nothing about brands etc.

Crappy hardtail. Put me off MTBing for life. Crap MTB + inexperienced rider = hard falls & broken bones.

If it is the S Works Specialised Ground Control, sidewall is extremely thin and is for racing snakes and weight weenies only!

Was the control version, not the s works.

Bought a bell for my bike. Couldn't fit it because the clamp was designed for standard size bars and not for the oversized bars I have.

ummm... standard size (25.4mm) only differ from oversize (31.8mm) in the centre where the stem clamps. Surely you aren't running your bell next to the stem?!

The diameter at the ends (where your grips, shifters, and brake levers clamp) is the same between standard size and oversize.
