So how does this work? I have a VD seeding but ride unlicensed??

They will ask to see your racing license when you collect your race pack. Might turn ugly if you don't have one.

Only reason why racing in V groups is calmer, is that every one knows how to ride. The VA's are normally faster than A bunch.

On these bigger races yes. On the normal smaller races the VA batch is only like 20 guys and only the front 5 tend to keep it together, the rest fall off and finish way slower than the A batch.

If you want to race for a time, rather ride in the bigger seeded groups.

I don't buy that for one second...  I'll put good money on it that pro teams will easily break 2h15.

The queen stages of the tour de france are on average 220km with +- 6km of climbing and typically ridden at averages exceeding 38 km/hr.  If pro's can't hit 38 km/hr on a 95km race with less than 2000 m of climbing there's a big problem...

The pro's averaged 43km/h over 160Km at Carnival City and 39.5km/h at the Race for Victory (150km, going through the reserve), so a 40km/h average gives a 2:22 time - very easy for them on this route. I'll go with a 2:16 +/- 1 minute for their time (+/- 41.5km/h average)

I would never bet against you.

You should be a bookie  :)

Same here...Im just not as old so I got a VA seeding

I'm also not licensed...

Saw this in the rules.

Only cyclists with a valid Cycling South Africa (CSA) license and the required seeding index will be permitted to start in the Elite, U23, Junior, Juvenile (U16), and Veterans categories for both ladies and men.

They don't specify whether it is the normal CSA license of the Full Racing license, I'm going to assume it is the normal license and if not they can just bump me back to the alphabet groups.

Problem is that I have never asked for it. Now I will have to queue to be reseeded. I can just imagine the looks I get when I request to be seeded down-"but you can just fall back....". "Yes lady, I know that but now I either have to pay to be reseeded or buy a license before I can get my number". Aah - the pleasures of having the occasional First World problem ....

Hope the link works...

Doing it from my phone...

Times may vary, as the times are based on last years event.

https://docs.google.com/spreadsheet/ccc?key=0AtpqXPqDsJOMdGlPMWE2UUU3N1JxVkxKVlhfYjdzamc&usp=docslist_api

The start times are slightly out...

Elite - 05:30

Tandems - 05:35

VA - 05:40

VB - 05:45

VC - 05:50

Juniors/U16 - 06:05

VE - 06:10

A - 06:20

There are other groups, after VC and perhaps after VE, but I don't know anyone in these groups.

I stand to be corrected but I'm about 90% sure that for this race you'll be allowed to race in the licensed groups without having a license.

Know somebody who is licensed and he's seeded in A bunch.

I recon, remove the times. and put name at corresponding letter.
