And longer stuff like the epic is too easy.

I have been thinking about doing it on my son's 24" bike, or his 16" BMX

ONLY JOKING!

Full respect to the guys who do that type of riding. It's just not for me.

In no particular order, slower riders in front, faster yelling for track behind, sandy bits, twisty bits, rut's, climbs, descents, mud, corrugated road, but my ultimate no no is if there's no beer at the end.

Money out of the equation... I can't really complain.. We have races every weekend on tacks within a 50km circle... So why am I not? I get to ride most of that on my own at my leisure without hundreds of other bikes.. Although I do miss the race feeling I would rather do it on my own with friends

Having a good seeding changed a lot of things for the better .If i was a late entry and i am not going to be seeded ,i would much rather go ride with friends

  • Too congested races. ie Burger and Argus. Especially the mtb.
  • Route descriptions which describes declines of more than 17%
  • Route descriptions with words like ..very techinical decents, loose rocky decents and only very experienced riders should attempt this.
  • and then if futher uncertain, I google for racereports of previous years.
  • Rain. On the day or the days before the race. Not because I will melt, but the potential damage to my bike.

Argus changed the route this year and it was incredible, so you absolutely lost out by reading previous year's race reports. The Burger last year was really beautiful and one or two bottlenecks do not ruin an entire race, surely?

So, you don't like mountain biking then?
