Nice looking package all round although the pannier bags look a bit slim to me. Could be empty or just designed to be tall and slim. Nice though.

Can you see how much I want a bike with all my research [emoji2][emoji23]

2005 Yamaha XT660R fsh, one owner from new, 62000km good condition. Still original. What can one expect to buy and maybe sell it for?

The guy wanted R20k, I took too long and it's sold in 5 hours. [emoji15][emoji17][emoji35][emoji24][emoji24][emoji24][emoji24]

No that was the price and I over thought the purchase as I don't have that amount of money on me and I had a friend coming over to buy it and we told the seller that we would take it on Monday, cash deal, but his neighbor over heard the conversation and jumped the line and bought it.

Big Zed displays the new Bitubo Piggy Back Bouncy Bits on the rear while waiting to have the Wilbers Progressive springs fitted to the front bouncy bits!

I hope that the couch like handling is transformed a bit. Trying to make a mountain pass scratcher out of the beastie! Okay......a big chunky one, but I like her a lot!!attachicon.gifCCF112CB-B032-417B-A061-ADD66BC3079C.jpegattachicon.gif1C4F65A2-9FE9-4C32-897B-2E4390EAB386.jpeg

I wouldn't be too disappointed though - those bikes do have a reputation for being reliable, but 62000km for a single is a lot of km's.  Unless it was serviced religiously, and had dealer stamps to confirm, you were probably looking at a top-end refurbish anyway which would have set you back close to R15k.

You can get nice XT660's with less km's for R35k to R40k

Some DT updates...

Blueprinting - when you spend the entire weekend matching up and cleaning the ports for maybe 0.5kw extra  :(

But at least now I know that everything is matching like Yamaha intended.  It will probably be a little better but not expecting miracles!

Oh, and some parts arrived....

Lekker Andy. 6 of us had DT 175's when we were youts...

Jeez you are determined.

We used to skim the heads of our 50's by using waterpaper and glass to get some extra compression. Boer maak n plan. Not sure what effect it had but hey we were always looking for a bit extra in terms of horsepower...

Yes now afterwards I'm thinking that this isn't what I really want, but could've been a nice stepping stone to get where I wanted to be at. I just love the look of the Tenere 660, but might rather get a GS800 when I'm big enough [emoji23]
