awesme Posted May 30, 2014 Posted May 30, 2014 Hi guys Some input/comment, pop corn ready. Stan's got the 3 main options, Crest, Flow and Arch We'll exclude the Race Gold and Valor (which are just about the SAME weight, but double price for the Valor: Carbon) I see the Crest are the lightest from the 3, seems to be more XC and XC RacingFlow is more middle of the ground, XC, XC racing and All Mountain andArch is more All Mountain. rouxtjie Posted May 30, 2014 Posted May 30, 2014 Lightweight but not so strong - CRESTLight enough and strong enough - ARCHBoat anchors that will never break - FLOW Each has its place, pros and cons. Just depends on what you want, and in some cases what you weigh Steven Knoetze (sk27), DIPSLICK, Skubarra and 2 others 5
shaper Posted May 30, 2014 Posted May 30, 2014 from their website http://www.notubes.com/ZTR-Rims-C18.aspx Crest - XC Racing and XCArch - XC Racing, XC and AMFlow - XC and AM
jcza Posted May 30, 2014 Posted May 30, 2014 I've got 1 x Arch after destroying AC Race. So far so good but its only been a couple of months.
DIPSLICK Posted May 30, 2014 Posted May 30, 2014 I've got 1 x Arch after destroying AC Race. So far so good but its only been a couple of months.get more skillz and maybe you wont break things jcza, rouxtjie, Help.Me. and 1 other 4
Kevin07 Posted May 30, 2014 Posted May 30, 2014 Got a set of Crest on Hopes and a set of Flows on Superstars. The Flows are a much harder ride as you can get the spoke tensions tighter. Less flex
scotty Posted May 30, 2014 Posted May 30, 2014 Have had Arch for about a year, many bumps and bangs including 2 serious crashes and they still going strong.
Rata Del Spruit Posted May 30, 2014 Posted May 30, 2014 from their website http://www.notubes.c...R-Rims-C18.aspx Crest - XC Racing and XCArch - XC Racing, XC and AMFlow - XC and AM Flow is most definitely an AM/DH oriented wheel. From what I hear it's not that much heavier than the Arch but it is wider. nigelhicks 1
jcza Posted May 30, 2014 Posted May 30, 2014 get more skillz and maybe you wont break things I know I know.....dirt roadie. Its a problem DIPSLICK and rouxtjie 2
divernick Posted May 30, 2014 Posted May 30, 2014 I have Flows on Hopes on my steel 29er SS. I have just around 8000km on the wheels and haven't had to touch them with a spoke wrench. I am an aggressive rider and ride these wheels very hard. I run low pressures and often tap a rim on rocks with NO damage whatsoever. They are weighty, but nothing on my bike is light.
rouxtjie Posted May 30, 2014 Posted May 30, 2014 I know I know.....dirt roadie. Its a skill problem fixed...people seem to think its easy being one hey oom? Help.Me., DIPSLICK and jcza 3
nigelhicks Posted May 30, 2014 Posted May 30, 2014 I run Flow EX on my DH bike ... The Wife has Arch EX on her 650B Enduro Bike For 99% of SA trails the Arch is more than strong enough for most riders - The Flows are overkill for Trail or XC
Featherbrew Posted June 1, 2014 Posted June 1, 2014 Slight hijack: I've been doing research for a new wheel-set and Arch on Hope or Sun Ringle has been stand out for my purposes so far. Anything else I should be looking at in the same strength / quality line that could be better value?
Kranky Posted June 1, 2014 Posted June 1, 2014 How about a "Not Stan's" option? Might be worth considering alternatives, but I guess that might just require a bit too much thought
