IMO..the way Froome got dropped and kept coming back and then to the front of the group just seems unnatural to me.

I think its more of the way he rides, constant watts rather than the accelerations from the other chaps. therefore coming to the front, riding at "what" he is comfortable with.

Ja, the top mountain goats change speed severely during a finale. They will attack at a blistering pace, then cut back - sometimes to a near crawl, then blast off again. Designed to break their opponents. If the opponent is strong they can respond. But if they're off form then the only thing to do is not to respond (just let them go) and then try get back up by riding to the power meter and close the gap when the pace inevitably slows again. It takes a steady head, steady power and a lot of stubborn courage/determination never to give up.

When those attacks happen it's not necessarily the dropped rider coming back up to the front guys, but often more like the front guys going back to the dropped rider.

Exactly, he's a real steady climber - a steady 5 w/kg or something.

Still early days, but Ireckon it's a duel between J Rod and 'Berto.

Tomorrow:

What’s Spanish for déjà vu? Because this stage is a repeat of the 2012 loops around Logroño. It was a sprint finish then and it’ll surely be one again.

I'm loving seeing Contador riding a good race. We haven't seen much of the effects of a broken leg which only healed a couple of weeks ago. I'm hoping that he gets stronger over the next two weeks and not that the broken leg comes back to bite him. Only time will tell.

Just watched yesterday'f final climb

What a race

To think Gesink had heart surgery not too long ago

Froome Dawg was impressive - must've had Brailsford angry face pic stuck on his stem!

Halfway mark now... Gonna be interesting to see who has legs for the final half and who will fade ad who will come to the fore.

Said the same thing yesterday, Always believed he could be a better rider than he's previous results.

Froomey, Feel for the guy, I think even in yesterday's stage, he tries so hard, he tries to ride himself into form, but it will have an adverse effect during the final week. (I'm scared)

Is cycling back at being a European sport? They definitely can ride their bikes!

The Finish: an urban finish the route twists and turns in town but the final kilometre is a 1km long straight road. Crashes are always possible but the riders will be familiar with the route given the circuit so there won’t be any surprises.

The Scenario: a sprint finish. In 2012 only one rider went up the road knowing the move was forlorn but that was Stage 5 and this is Stage 12. Riders are more tired and some know they have only a few chances left to shine so we could see some scrapping.

The Contenders: Nacer Bouhanni is the prime pick. He’s got the speed and the team in his service. His team are going to miss him next year, they have not had many other wins. John Degenkolb is a close second, he won here in 2012. Andrea Guardini is very fast but has been covered in bandages but now seems more able to sprint.

Was that during the TT? or an early stage?

Damn shocking if it was the TT

Bike Tech: one small observation was OPQS riding with their rear quick release skewers on the wrong way around. Why? The lever is used to tuck the rear mech cable in-line with the frame. The photo shows Tony Martin and Uran was spotted with the same.

I saw a clip from GNC on this bike, he runs a monster 58 tooth upfront. That is massive, and probably the reason that he uses the long cage RD
