I had to wait 10min to cross the finish line and a 3 min stop and go at byitengracht...

Why am didn't the just keep us I the flyover and let us ride I front of the harbour and come down I front of the waterfront entrance and then left towards the stadium?

Dude, I'm concerned about you.  You sound like you have some problems man. What's really the reason for the constant complaining?

If you saw the butt slapping thread, you would understand. I fear he is a wilful contrarian.

My view maybe outdated here - but the short routes are possible undersubscribe as you feel like a cop out. But what if you did the short route and then had the fastest time on the short route for the day even thought the Pro’s did it for proper prize money later that same day!! Suddenly that cop out is possibly more OK!!!!  Maybe some 13 year old does the fastest time on the short route (I did sub 3 on the proper Argus when I was 13) - currently I think you need to be 14 to even ride the cycle tour?

I think you have sort of answered your own question - would your 13 year old self really still be remembering a 47km stroll in the park?

So after looking at my VIP results I discover this year had more finishers than any other year the closest was in 2004 at 31219! Maybe a shorter route is best for mass participation - is that not the event is a mass participation funride!!!! Even more finishers than when those who could were allowed to do it twice!

Apparently the shorter event does not suit me one of my worst positions!!!

That's great

Do you know any other songs?

This one's a bit overplayed.

If you don't stop, I'm going to call you julius hence forth

Just got back after the weekend down in the fairest Cape. Must say every time I go there I like it more and more, although some say it is a fools paradise, I would quite happily relocate just to be able to ride, walk, run from Granger bay through to Camps bay daily - but that is a topic for a different thread.

Regarding the Argus lite - I had a blast. Up at 04h30. Quick breakfast at the hotel, casual ride out to the start. Good thing we followed some VB guy who knew the way.

Chilled vibe at the start. Singing the National Anthem (one thing I can be proud of is that I taught my daughter the entire song, and in so doing myself) and being proud that I can belt it all. I get tears in my eyes every time. Lots of fireworks, hooplah and all that. Then it was off at 06h35 and boy, was the pace hot. I didnt expect anything less.

Nice smooth roads, good pace and less of the South Easter than I expected. Blizted out to the end of the M3 and then hammer time on the way back. Cruised in with a 1hr18 and loads to spare. Dropped the bike off and walked back to the hotel. Showered, changed and met the family for breakfast and then took a walk around the stadium precinct feeling rather odd, like I had never taken part.. But it was amazing. Blows my mind each time when I see the bikes on the road and I do a mental calc as to the value of it all

If that was a half CTCT then I cant wait to see what the full one is like.

I will be back next year for sure

Edit: spelling

It's like that, but BIGGER. It's amazing. Even the kalk bay stripper is a sight to behold (not for sore eyes, it makes them sore)

But the route on the full one... BEST EVER.

So here's mine. Short and sweet. Amateur.

Got up at 05:45. Swaer Jan was really feeling under the weather, but insisted on riding. Had couple of rusks, some protein shake and left Blouberg around 06:45.

Rode the bikes in. The wind seriassly blew some spots...They didn't want to allow us to ride through the harbor, so we had to take some of the main roads- rides on the M-whatever was scary, but all vehicles except for one ass in a light truck treated us very well.

Chilled at the MAD spot at the start, and decided to drop down further to ride with my mates. Just before entering the gates, I discovered my phone's gone awoll... Ran back, and 'strue, someone found it and gave it to owner who gave it to the MAD lady. Huge relief...

This caused me and swaer to fall back even further, left after 9, I think in 6H. What a lekker day, in spite of swaer feeling really crappy. Very weird to see okes opposite side of highway coming back. Rode down to end of M3, stopped and chilled a bit, had a shot of some serious medicine in a half-jack, had a wee, made a phone call, and carried on. Back was even lekkerder, 'cept for the one oppie where I had to stand up and pedal Ou Rooies. Seeing the Firefighters cheering us on was really the highpoint of the whole ride.

Also hit the back of the jam at the end, took us about 15 minutes to get through. Ride back to Blouberg was a stroll, wind at the back.

Official time: 2:23.

Total distance ridden: 90,5 km.

Cost for weekend: R Plenty.

Experience: Priceless.

God willing, I will not miss this ride for nothing in the world. It is an absolutely awesome experience.

Thank you Cape Town. See ya next year.

(PS: I agree with Honkdonk- I will move there in a heartbeat- to be able to ride in this setting...

Nice report.  I was in 1h with you, and at the start everyone around me was very chilled with guys all talking about taking a relaxed ride out and back.  Then the gun went off and all hell broke loose!  I was not expecting that at all but quickly got caught up in the sudden burst of energy.  Also came home in about 1.18 and a bit so we must finished near each other (I lost the front guys at the top of Wynberg hill heading back North).

I had one nasty moment with a tandem (MTN or club 100 kit who believed they were entitled to most of the road) otherwise the vibe was great if a little frantic at times.  Went for an amazing chilled ride up signal hill from Camps Bay drive after the race, great way to count your blessings and get the adrenalin levels down.

Put this on Slowbzz report but probably better here:

Report of 2015 CTCT

Better half and I decided to make the most of the day on the bike and have a relaxed fun time riding in honour of cycling mates who passed away along with the fire fighters plight over the past few weeks!

Here's our day...

Cycled in to the start with some minor issues which meant we missed the group we were supposed to start with. Felt bleak about not riding with the family and friends of my work mate who passed away in January... Loaded with the next available group and set off on a slow jaunt. Nope there was no option of chasing them down as we had decked out ourselves and the bikes with some attachments that made anything but a cruise unrealistic!

Literally soaked up the vibe of every participant and supporter all round the circuit! High fived the gorilla dude on the M3 in Constantia, stopped at a few of the water stops and chatted, rode alongside a dad and his young son on a tandem going back up Wynberg Hill and did a decent visit to the VWS crew next to Newlands Forest. Caught up with some of our missed start group who had made a Forries stop at this point and shared some of our stories about the ride til then. Took in the last run up into the city as a complete jol! Saw a stranded cyclist crying whilst walking her bike past the station. Stopped our band of riders and investigated to find her front tyre had ripped off the beading and spare tubes were jumping out the side of the tyre when she tried to inflate. Had so much ductape on my bike I was able to relinquish a long piece and stuck the tyre back together. She was down from Germany and loving the whole vibe to the point where her ride had become a walk. Felt like we had rescued the experience and she mounted her bike to ride to the finish with us! Everyone having a laugh and a good time.

If you want to experience what it feels like to have every single spectator seem like a family member out supporting you, then I can highly recommend wearing something like this for the ride:

Ride 4 Adre 2015 was a memorable experience! He would've smashed this ride as his 21st one!

All the months of training and the ideas of riding for a PB were not even on the radar compared to the smiles and cheers of all the children, young and old who screamed and supported us around the route. Thank you CT for an awesome day out on the bike!

Ride time - 2:35. Almost all of it with one hand waving! (Cheeks recovering from all the smiling!)

That wind wasnt very friendly and it took us quite a bit longer to get to the start

We parked in Paarden Island for a shorter ride in. We had more beer time afterwards.
