If you see something suspicious then your duty is to report it to the authorities and NOT to confront the guy that's got the bike. People can't just stereotype others like that

My 2 cents..

And by reporting it to the authorities you have just sterotyped him.

FFS, people need to get over this whole thing. The guy was just trying to be helpful, nothing more, nothing less !!

And Besides, what help are the authorities these days ? - Oops did I just sterotype someone..

I am still waiting for all these guys who are saying "pick me to ask me if this is my bike" to have somebody walk up to them, not to ask them whether it is their bike, but for their bike, whilst standing facing a gun.

Then the next thing we will see will be the posts on the hub around crime, the country going to hell in a handbag, immigration and a picture of the bike with "if anyone sees my bike"

Always easy to be a bleeding heart liberal when there are no real issues to address, so you invent one. Its not so easy when there is a real problem that needs action not some committee to be convened and tea and biscuits to be drunk.

Rant off

Reporting something suspicious is NOT stereotyping anyone, these are two completely different things which should not be confused. Of course you should report something suspicious which is clearly different to stereotyping a person just because he doesn't look like he can afford an expensive bike.

And this nonsense of bad mouthing the police needs to stop, they do what they can with the resources that they have.

I reported a stolen bike last year around June July and less than 5 days later they recovered the bike, forum members that know me know this is true and I have pics to prove it ;-)

Hi guys, spotted this bike at Ballito Junction last night. Guy claims he bought it. Seemed like a decent enough chap, so could be true. Was a bit suspicious as he was in overalls, and his 'briefcase' was a plastic bag. Said he had a cool bike & asked if I could take a photo. All I could really see in the dark was that it was a Diamondback.........

your actions are commendable and vigilance appreciated

Jeepers guys, I know us cyclists love our coffee, but seriously.... I apologise if anyone is offended. My take when there's a new post on this thread...have a look, establish (quickly) is it my area? Is it a mate's bike (I'm pretty sure if mine was stolen, I'd know)? Can I assist, if it's 3 'nos' then I move on to another thread........

If someone is proud of being honest and constructive in telling his wife she's fat I suppose I should not expect him to understand the nuances of profiling people based on appearance.

WHAT EVAAAA its my wife, if i cant tell her and she cant take it(trust me she has no issues telling me i am dik)then how the hell do you think you can have a relationship thats not based on bull and being false??? JUMP OFF YOUR HORSE

you have never looked at someone and profiled them??????

YOU SEEM TO THINK YOU ALREADY KNOW ME    from one statement that my wife and i are honest about each others appearence,
