The Coach

Peach's MTB Skills Clinics was officially started by Christopher Pearton in late 2014.

Unofficially he has done it for most of his life, coaching his siblings, parents, friends, and anyone who set foot on a bike in his vicinity.

His cycling career started when he was 10 years old, competing at the local XCO races. Years later he took up Bike Trials, which lead to Dirt Jumping, Down Hill and Enduro.

With 20 years experience in the different cycling disciplines, he has learnt valuable skills and tricks which he happily hands over in his lessons.

Growing up the youngest of 6 kids meant Chris learned lots of patience. This is evident in his easy handling of every experience level… anyone is welcome!

I'm definitely in!

To those who are wondering if it is worth the while, IT IS!  I've been to Peach's skills clinic a few weeks ago and it is incredible what he can teach you on a bike in the space of a few hours!

hops, jumps, berms and balance (or any of these) for me

If you have a noob one that won't require keeping up, let me know.

One simple thing no one seems able to help me with -

I can't for the life of me lift my front wheel more than a 2-3 cm off the ground and even that is a mission.

Trying to slowly and with control mount a pavement doesn't work, it's brute force and hope for the best or stop and lift

I think getting that basic right will help already.

Might have to wait till next year though - weekend of 15th not good.

Hey I'd be interested, would even arrange a trip up to the big bad city for it, won't be able to join the 15th though, so I will keep a look out for the next date

I'd be very interested in these if you're running them at the beginning of next year. It would be a great way for me to get back on the bike with the incentive of leaning a few new good habits. Are you considering other venues as The Spruit can sometimes be a bit difficult to get to.

Yes, If people are from outside JHB I am happy to arrange classes at Van Gaalens, Groenkloof, Thaba, Rietvlei. within reasonable distance of JHB.

Does Cape Town count as "reasonable distance"?  :whistling:

Wish there was something like this in CT as well...

Peach. I would be interested in a more intermediate / advanced skills clinic that would cover stuff like; Improving jumping skills (control in the air, whips, scrubbing etc.)

possibly more advanced cornering skills, line selection, how to smash a rock garden :)

Kinda like a clinic for guys who are pretty competent, but want to take it to the next level.

Could use PWC and Thaba DH track for venues.

Can you teach me how to stop choosing the creative lines?

This may require a 'different' approach (some rapping over the knuckles)
