Wanted to ask who of the hubbers have a Niner RLT and what build? Looking at the Sram Rival build, any input or other options. Also looked at Giant TCX. Budget around R40k. Or Bowman Footscray import and self build. Just toying with ideas... thanks.

I have a RLT - the Niner 2 star build (105 gruppo), Alu frame

I paid much less than R40k and got a good deal for the price.  Great looking bike, that does the job.

A future plan will be to match the frame with a 27.5 wheelset and 2.0 wide MTB tyres - this will help to ride much rougher stuff with confidence

PROS:

Cool looking bike!!!!

A great gravel grinder - very stable on gravel and tar

105 - 11 spd performs very well

CONS:

Was more expensive than the Giant, but better looking

Alu is a very harsh ride

Bike is on the heavy side

BB7 brakes, especially with the back rotor at 140mm, are underperforming

Niner saddle was replaced with a Gobi

Niner zero offset seatpost was replaced with a 15mm offset Pro

Niner Cx rims very difficult to convert to tubeless - they seem to lose air, even with different tyres.  Air leaks at the tyre bead.

Maxxis Mimmo tyres not suited for RSA gravel riding - not resilient enough.

I built up a RLT steel late last year using parts that came off an earlier bike. Sram red 2x10 with Hope wheels and cable to hydraulic brakes.

It is a great ride and in the same position I'd buy the same bike.

Patch go wider so that you have some steering leverage in single track

Think it has 44s on the 56 frame now, 46 recommended?

And on going to carbon for compliance? Or isn't that a big enough deal to worry about?

So a mate got this frame off CRC, but without the fork.

We now need a fork without breaking the bank, anyone have any inexpensive options or alternatives?

"Vitus energie cyclo-cross frame 2016

Hydroformed 6061-T6 triple butted aluminium

Bb 68mm BSA,

Headset size: IS42/28.6"

The Fork would've been a : high modulus T700hm full carbon with tapered steerer through axle config.
