Was great fun! Pity my Garmin fell off, about 5mins after we caught the A, felt we worked so hard to get there and then i turned around to get it. Needless to say the massive effort put in meant that i waited ages for C bunch to get to me to take me home

An amazing effort. At 54kph down Malmesbury Road thought you okes were mental. Think of those heavier lads like me that normally get dropped at the prison, pls, haha. But the first C guy only got me close to the top of Vissershok. I was going so slowly by then I could see the sweat hit the tar vertically below my chin. :(

Wanna thank the Muscles in Group H.

We had a fast start and there were a hand full in Group H riding hard. It was a bloody good effort and we managed to catch G fairly quickly.

I manage to squeeze out 3:13 after the last two climbs nearly robbed me of my dignity.

Really enjoyed this race.

Very disappointed concerning my performance :cursing: . But can only make me stronger.  :whistling:

Was late this morning so missed my group and started in F, pulled hard over the first few KM and was rewarded by catching E.

Set back and helped so now and them, :whistling:

Tested my climbing legs a few times during the climbs to make sure I brought them with and to my surprise they were there , could pull away from the strong guys up on the longer hills.

Then its happened again :cursing: ... the 80KM bonk   , was only a for a minute or 2(strava estimates power dropping from +-250W to 190W) but was enough to be dropped and had to case like crazy when I overcame it.

Well done ramster, bonks happen but you made a good comeback. I was also in the front of E/F group - in the blue Sanlam Investments kit

The Group F guys rode pretty well today

Well organised, marked etc.

Don't think I'll be doing the MTB 35km again. Way too little single track, too much afkak just for afkak's sake. Climb, climb, climb with little play. Can do so much more from a Durbanville trails PR point of view. Biased perhaps 'cos I ride these trails often...but it isn't a great route. Spoke to a couple of people who share the same sentiment.

Needless to say, little to late and couldn't catch them... and was sooooo much looking forward to a group sprint up visserhok followed by 99er finish...was not to be.

Ended up doing a 3:13, 6 min behind group winners

Big  to the guys that was keeping the pace nice and high ,especially the guy that started in F and worked all the way ,non stop till the finish.....( I would assume)

BTW I was the one with the long white compression socks

if you didn't pass out then it's not a bonk. 190w is still Going strong.

Really bleak about the bike racks being stolen. Its a little ironic that they gave 2 thule bike racks away during the lucky draw. Maybe some people did not want to wait for the lucky draw.

The water stations at the end and the little shade there was pretty great!
