I have a appletv at home, with netflix, hulu, amazon tv on it. Costs 30usd a month.

For sport VPN and eurosport supscription activated when I need it.

So only use it for GT, classics, monuments and world champs.

If I really need something I can't find on the above apps, I channel my inner Jack Sparrow.

Internet is fo free(work perk) so I have 10mb line with 300gb data pm

VumaTel are coming to do a site survey tomorrow in my complex, and will find the infrastructure in place to pull their wires (pun intended) to each unit from the road.

I should have uncapped, unshaped, 10 or 20 mbps connection by November... then my kids can have their HD channels back, while watch my channels (at the same time). Now the 2mbps ADSL line allows us one stream at a time... okay but not perfect.

Hi guys. don't want to read through 60 pages. I just got my uncapped line installed yesterday.

My question are, how do I get Kodi to run on my non smart TV? I guess I need some sort of tv box, and what can you recommend? Is there a TV box that can run DSTV now?

Hi, there is a Kodi thread which deals with most of your queries, well worth a read.

Check out mediabox.co.za/

I don't have one, so can't comment on performance etc. but it runs DSTV/Supersport too

At that price, wouldn't the one available from Telkom somewhere this month make more sense? Roughly the same specs, but going to cost R1099 - link.

If I may ask, what speed and ISP did you go with?

I'm planning on getting FTTH as well, but still weighing up the many options.

Telkom, and speed is 10mbps adsl, they have it on special for R799 per month

Just be aware of the "uncapped" portion....that line is shaped

I found it better off going capped. Running a 20Mb ADSL line semi shaped with 400Gb data @ R725/month from Afrihost incl line rental (No FTTH in our little neighbourhood) I have not been throttled yet

Webafrica have well provisioned  Capped packages - 300GB about R300 pm

also find out about 20 Mbps and 40 Mbps VDSL Line speeds with Telkom

I am very happy with 20 Mbps - upgrading my buddy to 40 Mbps end of this month, lets see how that goes.  20 and 40 Mbps uncapped ISP accounts are expensive and unless you really need them, its overkill

Have also after near 30 years of first Mnet and then DSTV made the switch to Netflix and Kodi.

Just wish I had listened to my wife a lot sooner

Its not "Goodbye Dstv" until you've cut the cables from the dish and heard the satisfying "click" as the side-cutter severs the cable. #nogoingback

I will not cut my cables, Openview is free, and they have some channels that is watchable, like the kiddies one just to keep the little one busy.

But I installed Kodi last night on my gaming PC. Getting a 20m HDMI cable to link the PC to the TV. Will then use my wireless gaming control to operate from the coach. Must say I'm impressed with Kodi so far
