Agreed - Looks like the mens roads racing scene in RSA is also falling apart. Not sure even which teams will still be operating next year.

 

The events need the “Pro's” the “Pro’s’ need the event. The sponsors need the (TV) coverage! The balls seems to be dropping in RSA road cycling.

We're not riding this year so we were on the corner at the top of Witkpppen near Malibongwi. Was only going to watch the first few pro's go past but ended up staying for hours chatting to people and supporting the riders. Was a great morning but as mentioned above, sympathy for anyone starting at 9 or 10 o'clock!

So I didn't win the race but I'm pretty sure I set a new record for distance launched over that speedbump in Steyn city. Yes, there was a guy with a whistle be by the time I figured out what he was whistling for I was airborne. SCAAARY! Should really paint that our something. Otherwise was an awesome ride, those last couple of km are nasty. Next year hopefully have a better seeding and less traffic.

Started in VB and my chain dropped 3.8km into the rest. The 1st of four and all on the hills. Legs felt good and my climbing really improved.

 

Manage a 2.46 but think I could have stayed with the main bunch. There is always next year.

Didn't the signs telling you to slow down and warning you about upcoming speed bumps help?

Missed it last year, so this year was my first time on the new route.  

 

Steyn and his city should be be reported to the HRC for cruel and inhumane punishment.   but nothing that a few beers wont sort out. . Race was well organised, this was the first 94.7 that i witnessed no crashes, riders (mostly) behaving and WP well stocked. Parking was a breeze getting in and out.
