Pro kit? Every other sport does it!

I'm pondering lately why in cycling compared to any other sport, if you wear the pro kit of the team you like it's considered ponsy and a general no no. Why is this, we all don our favorite football tops or rugby jerseys, people go to rugby practice in their replica kit, and tons of people play indoor in their kit, so why do cyclists take such a strange vibe toward people supporting the teams they like by wearing a replica kit?

Wearing Man Utd kit or a Bulls jersey is just not best practise is it?

How about wearing kit for events you've not partaken in. I've been given an entry for a certain race next month on condition the entry giver gets the event shirt. CHOP.

It might work for other sports but cyclists are like cannabalistic pirhannas and like to tear each other apart.

Even a small difference in wheel size is like blood in the water. Even the rumor of another cyclist doing something noteworthy will get them going.

What amazes me is that the rugby teams have not jumped on the cycling kit bandwagon and brought out team-branded kit for cycling.  The Bulls, Sharks and Stormers would make a fortune.  I know I would wear a Sharks shirt for my Saturday morning ride on match days.

Well maybe not this season, but normally!

Norra...please don't give them ideas bad enough having people walk around in town with supporters shirts on

would u wear a tight cycling top to a bar? I think not a rugby jersey works.

Well normally people don't go to a bar to watch cycling do they?If it was the norm then cycling jerseys in bars would have been fine ;-)

It's easy.

You PLAY rugby.

You PLAY soccer / football

You don't PLAY cycling ... you CYCLE. It is C for SERIOUS.

exactly !

if you are on a bike in a jersey you didn't earn you just bought in a shop then you are poser ...that's it ! :(

and the rules of course ..its in the RULES

and if you are in a bar watchin sport then NOONE thinks you are a sports player ...no matter what you wear..  get out of there go ride a bike

This reminds me of the "I hate Spez" thread

Seems a number of hubbers out there are far more concerned with what people around them are wearing and riding as opposed to just enjoying their own ride.

Personally it doesn't bother me either way, Sky kit, MTN etc. However I did have a chuckle the other day as I was driving down Target Kloof rd ( rather steep hill) and saw this guy  who looked completely and utterly stuffed cycling up the hill. Wearing a King of the Mountains jersey.

It's really special when a rider is kitted out all in one brand and I mean E V E R Y thing.

Helmet - top - gloves - bike - tyres - bottles - tools - socks - e v e r y t h i n g.

And colour coded on top of it - oops I think it only comes in one colour range.

U talking about team spaz, u see about 30 of them at every race.
