What is very funny about the VA race also. Guys that was with the DQ group dropped after we got DQ'ed and still received results. So WTF?

I recon we should bombard Cycling SA with emails...

I'm pretty sure that the rules would state that either the entire race (group) be DQ'd or the individual perpetrators numbers be taken.

i witnessed the fight as well. didnt see who was wrong but surely a VA rider should not have been riding in an open b group.

anyways atleast everyone had a safe ride. next stop d2d

Approximately where did this happen?

Correct. According to the rules because there is prize money any rider with a racing licence can't ride open /seeded. Unless he was dropped he shouldn't have been there.

I obviously don't know what happened and where the VA rider started or what his situation was but if he was a licensed VA starting or entering with open he should get DQ'd. But ja.........

Started in the DL group with my AL seeding (LOL). Even I passed AL riders not to far into the race.  The seeding clearly sucks. Other than that it was a pleasant race (not taking the wind into consideration) Managed to achieve my goal of 30km/h for the race.

I started in EL and passed GL and FL riders within 10km from the start. WTF??

Also caught a lot of, (well most of DL and CL) and BL, AL and even a few racing Vets. Clearly the seeding wasn't done properly.

does anyone know what events does Satellite Classic (ASG) use for seeding? Hopefully this race will count towards that.

Edit

AL-CL carried prize money.  I normally (attempt) to ride VB, but our club wanted to ride as a group in R4V.  We were requested to start in DL or lower.

That lady said that she has got pictures of all the perpetrators. Why DQ the whole group? And why not DQ the ones who dropped with a few km's to go and still get a result?

And on the flip-side, she was alone in the car taking pictures with her cellphone, in this country its illegal to use your phone while driving. I know 2 wrongs don't make a right. But there is too many inconsistencies here.

Organizers complain the numbers drop at races, here we had a HUGE bunch with some real positive racing and then suddenly rules have to apply to certain people. This surely hurt the next event.

I doubt anyone's going to stop racing, or at least stop racing VA as a result of this.

I understand their point, and I also understand a lot of points raised by you okes about it.

We're all in our thirties, so instead of "Ya, stuff CSA and that miserable cow etc", why not

try take a positive line...?

Sure, let's all (but pretty sure it's easier to moan than take action) email CSA regarding it. Offer them some of the solutions here, like the motorcycles on the line, and another person in the car to film/take photos of the transgressors so that they alone can be DQ'd.

And from our side let's speak up to each other in the bunch when okes are doing stupid things etc. Police ourselves and each other.

Not saying we need to all grow beards, braid our long hair and sing kumbaya around a fire in the car park after a race, just suggesting we be proactive.

Remember kids, when you point a finger, there are 3 pointing back at you...

Oh Lord, kumbayaaaaaa....

Agreed. If we can shout at each other to help pull at the front of the bunch which happens in every race, surely we can talk to each other about crossing the line. We are all adults (30-39 years old) and can take responsibility.

And as mentioned previously, the second point is that EVERY racing group did the white line crossing echelon and yet only one got punished. Consistency?

Um, as I recall AL lead bunch (20 or so riders), there was the odd guy overtaking across the white line, but very little echelon riding and no guttering all the way across to the right of the road. Mostly single file right on the white line. The on-coming trucks were quite intimidating. The Bike Marshal was present and seemed to do a great job, shepparding cars etc past the group and keeping things in check.

What was funny was when we caught the racing ladies, the pace dropped off completely, seemed the guys in front were keen to chat...

When Wez said "racing " groups he meant the licensed groups ie: elites, VA, VB and VC. We have team members and mates from all the above mentioned groups that said it was happening in their group as well.

I stand to be corrected but I don't think AL has a commisseur following them to watch for infringements and issue the DQ's.
