*sorry for the hijack*

I bought a set of Rotor Qrings last year(110BCD) but the didn't work with my Ultegra 6800 crankset which I was told it would. I am now actually looking for 130BCD Rotor QRings or Osymetric rings which will work with my crankset or will I have to get a new crank to go with the rings?? All advice will be appreciated. Thanks Guys.

You will need to get 4 bolt qrings. I had the same problem and bought a new crankset 5 bolt. Just remember you will only have ocp3 with the 4 bolt crankset.

Went from a AB Oval 34T on my SLX crank to a FRM Oval 34T on my new XX1 crank. What a difference... The FRM is even more oval. Only difference so far is the "feel", no difference regarding speed etc., although I have gotten quite a few PR's on Strava with the FRM ring

Was on a round ring for one ride, and it just feels so wrong. My knees took strain and my quads could not handle nearly as much as they could with the oval, as I had a lot more lactic build up. Round feels like so much more effort is required to turn the cranks.

Would recommend oval to anyone, as it has really made a difference for me.

Yeah, the oval just feels so effortless to pedal

:P  Don't knock it 'til you try it

I had a set of Rotor 3D cranks on my Jamis FS for about 3 years, just recently changed it to 1*11 with a 'normal' crank and conventional 32 NW .... I cannot honestly say that I miss them 'big' time but ja whatever blows your hair back ;)

just for info, the 4 bolt shimano Q rings have 3 ocp settings. I have the 52/36 on the Ultegra 6800 and there's 3 on there, will confirm which ones exactly.

I have a SRAM BB30 crank and I use the GXP direct mount rings. You just take your spider off.

Im running a SRAM XO BB30 crank 120 BCD (39t), which option will I need?

Depends if you have a long or short spindle crank.

Assuming you want to go direct mount, If it is the long spindle version, commonly found on Specialized bikes, then you must use the GXP version. If not, then you need the short spindle version (BB30), which you won't find in SA. In which case, your only option would be to get a 104BCD BB30 spider and just use a 104BCD chainring.

Is it a simple process to change the spider? (have not found anything on Youtube or web).

What about direct mount chainrings? is it perhaps an option?

Very simple. Remove the crank and you will see 3 torx bolts where the spider connects to the crank. Direct Mount would be ideal, as it is lighter and should have a more direct power transfer. Just use those same 3 bolts to connect the chainring to the crank

First experience with oval this morning. It had to be a tar road ride. Started the ride and could feel something different straight away. Within a km it felt normal pedaling. I'd read that standing/climbing and pedaling is where a real difference can be felt. Well that took me by surprise, I felt like my pedaling was much smoother and powerful, like pedaling in a circle, and not mashing up and down. Strava tells me I got 4 PR's, 2 of them on hills that I've ridden plenty times. I'll have to ride a few of my familiar routes and trails to see the all important Strava times.

After riding properly on Q-rings for about 6 weeks now, I can really feel a difference on the flats and also much easier to climb while standing. my legs also feel much fresher after a ride.
