Jip, its almost Friday ☺

I thought Id stir a bit after reading a comment on the Colnago thread along the lines of "No Shimano on an Italian frame" or something like that. So Taiwanese toppings to go with Italian base, yes?

at the end of the day, with the 2 company's QC on their products are evenly matched; Most of us (as the end-user) would just choose the brand that the person likes.

As long those part are not made in Nkandla...

Thought one of Campagnolos' claim to fame was they make everything in house in Italy, no farming out of manufacturing to the east like everyone else?

Is this a recent development?

My older 10s Chorus and Record parts had a "made on Italy" label on. I noted this when I bought parts for a new project.

I guess capitalism rules in the end.

Shimano gets made all over Asia. Certain parts in certain factories. Afaik the higher end stuff in Singapore and Japan and from there it goes downward to China. Probably same for campy. Super Record in Italy and the rest outside.

You have to remember that the rules are different when it comes to labelling.

Product of Japan doesn't necessarily mean it made in Japan. It could mean it designed in Japan and made somewhere else.

Made in Italy used to require something silly like 15% of the assembly' must be done in Italy for the lable to stand.

As far as I know, campy has been outsourced due to financial concerns. The company hasn't been doing so great due to most of us being too poor to afford their components.

I ride shimano as it shifts quite well, is smooth, and parts and consumables are cheap and available. Would love to be on campag but it's just not justifiable for my pocket. Long and short term.

Campy missed the boat on mtb and are paying the price now!

I've owned a few Campy groups and love the stuff but I reckon unless they change course drastically they'll end up a niche product. SRAM and Shimano are eating them alive.

Shimano have the commuter market, fishing dept etc. SRAM have Rockshox, Avd etc. Campy have corkscrews ;-)

Roll on Friday he he he.
