Andrew Steer Posted February 21, 2017 Posted February 21, 2017 Looking for 2/3 more regular weekly goal hitters for my Vitality Team... got some slapgat team mates at the moment I'll be moving on. Most of the reliable ones seem to be taken!Anyone else with lazy members they're keen to dump just bomb me a pm. I've only missed 2/3 goals in the last year so I won't let you down.
SwissVan Posted February 21, 2017 Posted February 21, 2017 Elevation 390m, worst parts are km 9 to 11 and then km 12 to 13.5. Lekker downhill from km 14 to finish. Pirates 21km.JPGGood to see this race still going...normally I don't get excited about downhills but I did enjoy this one after north cliff hill. I ran it a few times a few years ago..... ok so it was probably last century but whose counting...
SwissVan Posted February 21, 2017 Posted February 21, 2017 We ran to a cloud shrouded Eldorado on Sunday morningActually, we ran to the top of Northcliff in the Pirates 21.1kmWhy is it.... that there is always a Boksburg AC member in every race photo or tv coverage... Boksburg must be the world photo bombing champions.... Ex sunward park striders member ranting... ????
fanievb Posted February 21, 2017 Posted February 21, 2017 Was surfers challenge this weekend. It's like our own Comrades as you always get "so you are a runner, how many surfers have you done?"So I finally decided to do my first full surfers (17.5km) (it's always at the wrong time of the year from a risk of injury point of view)Starting at Kwelega river mouth you run along the rock infested beach to Gonubie, cross the river (wet shoes), hit the tar and jump back onto sand at German Bay to cross Nahoon river (wet shoes again) to finish at the life savers.I planned to take it easy as I'm doing Buffs half this coming weekend. Started with a bang to avoid the bottle necks on the beach (some single track paths). Once I crossed the Gonubie river I had the compulsory beer stop at the Funtrax (MTB Club) supporter zone. Just around the point I had fresh and dry shoes waiting for me wish made the last section a bit better (I hate wet shoes and the extra weight it brings)Had some shooters somewhere just after half way.The SW killed us on the beach stretch between Bonza and Nahoon, but I knew I had a cold beer waiting. All in all a lekker day out.Garmin measured just over 18km in 2h09 (as I said easy day and chilled run) ScottCM, Tubehunter, Messier87 and 10 others 13

SeaBee Posted February 23, 2017 Posted February 23, 2017 ...and on my smaller scale, 50 to Oceans. How did that happen?! Andrew Steer and ScottCM 2
Andrew Steer Posted February 23, 2017 Posted February 23, 2017 Tick tock...And on cue myself and the misses are battling a bit of flu out of the dark... little one had gastro the two nights after pirates so sleep was a very rare commodity. Tie in the sudden change of weather and full busy days at the office and the system is not impressed. Hoping for a good night sleep later Stretch, how's the groin feeling? Warrick, let us know how the physio goes with that ITB niggle?

Warrick, let us know how the physio goes with that ITB niggle? going for a little run this afternoon and then my physio is going to rub my groin tomorrow ha ha - its more abductor grandis/majoris/big cheesis...whatever they call it. I think it just needs a little run to iron out the tapering muscle twitches Guys.....and girls.....100 days sounds a little...but that is THREE months...and its all about March and April anyway
Jackes Posted February 23, 2017 Posted February 23, 2017 ...and on my smaller scale, 50 to Oceans. How did that happen?! I've got that predicament as well.... But somehow the 50 days extra gives me more butterflies in the tummy... Andrew Steer 1

Tie in the sudden change of weather and full busy days at the office and the system is not impressed. I also had some sinus/flu the past 2 odd weeks, but luckily it was just above shoulder height. Nothing into the chest so I continued slowly and sweat the bugs out. The 30 long run was quite fun on an "empty tank", but everything is good again now. Well, I will know for sure after Saturday's 42.. Edited February 23, 2017 by Jackes Andrew Steer 1
