Yeah, same position as you with Asics. Glad to hear it's not just me. I've just retired my Nimbus 17 and I really felt it was a better shoe than the 19. If I could find another pair I'd snap them up. Seen a lot if people raving about that 1080 as well. Seems to be a great shoe going by the reviews.

Same boat here, except I've started wearing a new nimbus 18 ( from the 17) and it feels wider (good for me) but also more rigid and harder which I don't like. Even on short runs my metetarsals are feeling like they have run further which imo should not happen with a new shoe.

Will give them some time to wear in and hope I don't need to look for another brand.....

I ran with my new pair of 18's last night. They are definitely wider than the 19's. It just felt so much better than the 19's. At least I have a pair that will last me until Comrades. I will decide after Comrades if I want to give NB a try.

They are selling the Nimbus 17 here at the V&A Waterfront in cpt. About R1.8k (can't remember) at the Athlete's Foot. If anyone desperately needs a pair I could have a look at size availability). Just PM me.

Cheers! I'm going to give the Supernovas a try first and if they don't work for me I may well take you up on that offer to get a pair before Comrades. Do you know offhand if they've got size 10.5?

In my last few runs my right quad is becoming quite stiff, not the entire quad but a smaller area. My mileage has been pretty steady lately (over 100km weeks) and I did a 52km run on the weekend where I was very comfortable.

Is it best to see a physio about this or would a decent sports massage relieve the tightness?

I'm a big fan of needling. If its a small problem area it may need more direct attention than a massage. Chiro or physio can perform, as long as they're fairly switched on.

My 2c, first go for a massage. If it doesn't help then Chiro or Physio.

I have been for needling twice, it is painful but so worth it. I had a calve injury 2 years ago after running on the beach. Went to a physio for a massage, didn't help. I went for needling and pain subsided within 3 days. Be warned it is not for sissies!

Omtom - Another stupid question.  Is it really that chilly in the mornings that you guys take tops with?    I should be ok, but the ladies don't gel with the cold normally.

And do you tie it around your waist when you take it off till you get to your support?   Or support is only at Houtbay and I'm not sure I want to run a marathon with a top flapping behind me.

I will not take a top along to the start. It should be around 10deg. If I'm outside for 5min I get accustomed to the cold. 30min before the start the seeding blocks are full and it will feel warmer with all the people anyway.
