Hi guys, only got back to Gauteng last night. I am ok, thanks for the posts.

My Two Oceans didn't go as planned. The plan was a sub 6, I finished in 6:23. Worst OMTOM time for me.

I started cramping from 20km. I chased my mates away, drank a rehydrate but nothing seemed to help. I tried everything but I could not get rid of the tired feeling in my legs.

I ran 6:30/km down Chappies  I then realized this is going to be a long day. I like the OMTOM downhills and always try and make up time after Chappies and Constantia Nek. I caught another club mate and he gave me a crushed slow mag fizzy. I drank that and after a couple of kms it seemed to help. The last 10km was just pure torture.

I am very happy that I did finish as bailing went thru my head at least 100 times. I am also thankful that the nausea is still gone.

Overall a well-organised race (except for the unsalted potatoes...). The support also seemed to be less this a year, I think the cold windy weather played a role.

Racetec and the OMTOM website said I didn't finish   I have sent them a mail, hope they will sort this out. Will email them my GPX file.

I have never cramped before at races. Not even Comrades... In hindsight, I think this was pure muscle fatigue after running Irene 2 weekends ago... Rookie mistake.

Congratulations to all finishing OMTOM, it is a great accomplishment, and still my favorite ultra. I will go and redeem myself next year.

I just noticed that a friend of mine came 9th in the ladies for the ultra! very proud of her, she is an absolute machine.

and her baby is just over (or under) a year old.

Took off way to fast.. As you do in this race it seems. Got blown up chappies going up.. And got blown up chappies again going down!

Went through marathon at 3:30..10 minutes too fast and had a horrible last 14. Mostly walked up Constantia Nek... But i did run every now and then just to help me mentally. Constantia road is ghastly with its camber! Ran the last ten on a run downhill walk uphill strategy... Bit still happy with my 4:50.

Congratulations Stretch!! Awesome time, a sub 5 at OMTOM is just brilliant.

Ooph - that was far. My furthest ever. My wind was out over Constantia Neck and as Stretch said that camber on the other side nearly had me thinking my ankles won't make it. Once the road leveled out my eating strategy paid of and I was surprised how well it went from there. Aimed for a 5:30 and got a 5:21 ish. Not sure as my watch managed to pause itself after a sheepish cateye/tar meeting. Only noticed after 200-300m and resumed so time and distance a bit off for me.

I saw lots of people fall over the cat eyes, one lady was badly bruised. Congratulations on finishing your first OMTOM in an excellent time.  Now 9 to go... :whistling:

Our first distance past 42 was indeed something to remember. Everything went so smooth and patiently until Hout Bay. Then we experienced a long and painful death up Constantia. So much that we gave up on finishing in time when the 7 hour bus passed us halfway up.

We walked the while Constantia and somehow was able to run again on the other side, catching and passing that group. We made up so much time that we could've walked the last three and made it relaxingly and enjoying the moment.

Congrats Jackes, to you and your wife! The mental game starts in Hout Bay, but you just have to keep going up to 46km. The last 10km you can make up time if you feel strong.

Okay, so it was my first and my first attempt at anything over marathon distance. It was an amazingly well organised event. Added to that the support and vibe along the route - simply awesome!

Not knowing what I was in for, I may have taken it a bit too easy, but I thoroughly enjoyed the day. Never felt really bad, just had one patch of feeling slightly miserable and a bit nauseous, but think that was just a bit of thirst.

The longest part on the entire route was the Chappies downhill. It felt like it would just never end. Fortunately quite used to running such downhills, but for some reason this just dragged on and on.

Came in at 5:47, for what it's worth. But plenty of smileage on the clock - and will definitely attempt this one again next year. Having had such a good experience, I actually thought over the weekend that I doubt whether I'll ever "race" this. I can believe that things can go sour very quickly then.

Congrats to all! It was a great day out.

Still waiting for some feedback from some of the team...Haac? Cobusv? Who else?

Good run Stretch!

We had a sub-par but not a bad run. Ran the whole way with my wife and finished in 5:32.

I got a bit of cramps going down on Chappies, but other than that nothing serious. I think our biggest mistake was getting late to the start. We entered our seeding block right at the back and struggled with crowds. Our first 10km took as 60min - we did the last ten in under 57min). At 28km we both took a pitstop (note to myself - women take 4 times longer...). I ran extremely comfortably up Chappies, but waited 3min for my wife at the top. And from there we basically ran together, albeit I bit slowly to the finish.

When we went through the 21km at only 2hr, I already knew we were going to finish 10-15 later than planned. So adjusted my/our goals from there.

On the positive side, my knees felt absolutely fantastic on Saturday and my wife is already keen on next year. So I guess we're going back.

Well Done everyone. Great time there Stretch. So this weekend will be the other guys (like myself) that didnt run the OMTOM to do a Ultra, The Loskop. I read that they change the road because of all the road works. Is it now flatter or easier? Because they also say that the previous records wont work this year.

I didn't know that they changed the route? Is it on the website?

I am doing the 21km at Loskop... my first 21km Trail Run. Looking forward to it.

After finishing the 21km I am getting on my road bike to support the ultra runners. I am so looking forward being on my bike!!

Two more things I forgot to add to my previous post.

My vest was completely dry at the end due to the wind. And I developed a lekker blood blister on my small toe from about 20km. It has been a long time since I had problems with blisters. But this morning I taped the small toe with some 3M Micropore tape and was able to run 4km with any problems other than tired legs.

well done all for finishing.  would love to do the half next year with the missus.  How difficult is it do get an entry?

With 16 000 entries available it should be pretty decent odds in the lottery...
