Pieter1 Posted September 1, 2017 Posted September 1, 2017 Guys and girls, we're busy developing running caps for Anatomic to offer to clubs and corporates... we're looking at doing both a full cap and a peak, but just out of interest, which do you guys prefer?Full. Andrew Steer 1
Paddaman Posted September 1, 2017 Posted September 1, 2017 That's why I asked. What will happen to a 2017 wild card entry, that is on the waiting list, that conquered Mavis bank? Will that mean an invite, or just on the waiting list again? As far as I know, a wildcard is a "one time only" entry. You will return to the waiting list for the next year, even if you and Mavis are friends. The same for substitutions. The entry reverts back to the original entrant the following year. If you have an entry and for some reason cannot compete, you have a one year grace, if you decline the entry. ie. it will be valid for the following year.Â
Paddaman Posted September 1, 2017 Posted September 1, 2017 A healthy lot us runners are....Can just imagine a couch potatoe reading this thread and sharing with all his couch potatoe mates around the Braai... " those runners are always...."Those runners are always.......Running and when they not running they are orienteering, or cycling or duathlon-ing or triathlon-ing or trail running....... Gee our wives are sooooo lucky that we only braai, drink beer, watch Rugby (or GOT) and surf porn. No danger or any injuries doing that, and we are always at home to fix things, look after the kids (except when on the interent---obviously).Â
Jackes Posted September 1, 2017 Posted September 1, 2017 (edited)  even if you and Mavis are friends. Thanks, it makes sense.   Although I conquered the bastard, eventually, we are far from friends!!! Edited September 1, 2017 by Jackes Lexx 1

Barry Stuart Posted September 1, 2017 Posted September 1, 2017 So with the first day of spring here it's normally now that people start planning for the season ahead and make some lofty goals.  So to all the usually quiet readers out there, who think they are to inexperienced to post on here as they haven't done a comrades, Two Oceans (OMTOM), marathon , Half marathon or even a 10km run as yet. What goals have you set yourself this coming season? Is there anyway some of the more experienced hubbers on this thread can help by sharing some knowledge that you have been unsure to ask for previously? Allow us help you along your journey to make your goals a reality.  How's the knee looking? Have you got a marathon lined up for later in the year or are you going to hold off until Feb?  Goals for the new season: Try and score a B batch seeding early at Kaapsehoop and then start running a lot and learning how to like downhills. I hate downhills. Wouldn't mind a crack at a half-marathon PB sometime. Haven't run a 21 in ages and they are a lot of fun. Mudsimus 1
Lexx Posted September 1, 2017 Posted September 1, 2017 (edited) Dude... I started running august last year....i was running about 25 ks per week this time last year... Ran my first ever 21 in November... And I managed that sub 9. Most definitely time. I am currently running only once a week due to injury... So going to be slowly building up to 70 a week by the end of the year... Get fit this year and then hit 200 to 300 km weeks in the new year and you will do it if you can manage a 3:30 to 3:40 marathon  That's allot per week. But hey, i'm not judging  How the hell did I manage to get a 2015 post... Glitch!!! Edited September 1, 2017 by Lexx

Another suggestion is to add a small pocket for a car key or money (for the necessary recovery drink) on the side or back of the cap. Andrew Steer 1

Andrew Steer Posted September 1, 2017 Posted September 1, 2017 Perfectly on cue, having just entered Comrades, I seem to have an injury... just got back from the doc and I have a muscle tear in my lower abdomen apparently. I actually thought it was bladder infection or the like, hence the GP visit, but he's pointed out otherwise. Problem is, he suggests physio is required, but I can't see how it can help considering the location, and to boot med savings completely klapped... so do I dip into the credit card or just take it very easy on the road and hope it comes right? Don't particularly feel like spending another R600 today, but I guess I know that's what I should do  Maybe these couch dwellers are on to something?
